Minister of Economics and Finance, Tsukiyama Hikosaburo endorses potential Green Energy Plan for Seko; "Economic benefits simply too great to ignore."

As the economy begins to get back into fruition, the Republic has been asking several questions now that things are relatively stable, and one of these questions has been regarding energy development. While coal powers the country, there has been significant lobbying from green groups, and Kalistani encouragement, for a shift in going green. Normally, this would be shot down, as the economy simply wouldn't be able to handle it the strain, however with the existence of the Green Terra Initiative, it's become seen as more possible. While it may be out of the question to make Seko entirely, fully green, it may be possible to boost green energy. Especially with foreign financial support. However, there's been little political will. Or rather, there's been little so far, as the Minister of Economics and Finance, Tsukiyama Hikosaburo has endorsed the concept of going green, whether fully or partially.
Hikosaburo has endorsed a basic green energy plan that involves cooperation with Kalistan, arguing that the economic benefits of green energy are simply too great to ignore, as while coal works, it's neither ideal, or efficient, and energy diversity is healthy for a young economy. Furthermore, it'll encourage foreign investment, (ie from Kalistan) and it'll boost industrial competitiveness. While so far, it's just an endorsement of going green, and less of a tangible plan beyond a vague "support private industries in going green", it's better than no statement. However, Hikosaburo has gone out of his way to state that any plan that throws coal workers under the bus "ought to be discarded and disregarded", being a firm endorser of retraining programs.
While Hikosaburo's comments have received support from green movements in Seko, it's equally received controversy from the SMP, arguing that workers shouldn't be displaced, especially not without a strong safety net, and some Diet members in the CDP, who argue that the current method works. However, ultimately, Hikosaburo is looking to start a national conversation on going green, even if it's just a partial green plan.
