The Imperial Household confirmed today that Emperor William XI and Empress Victoria would be travelling abroad in a state visit and that said state visit would be a first in history.
For the first time in recent history, a Luthorian monarch will visit the Kingdom of Egelion in an official capacity.
While Emperor William’s late mother was of Egelian descent, being the daughter of former Royal Counsellor Victoria Mongradon – both Emperor Richard II and Empress Valeria only visited Egelion in a private capacity, specifically invoking “family reasons” to travel to the nation.
Following the death of the Empress Emerita in 5703 at 100 – and the controversy surrounding the portrayal of the House of Orange-Villayn by Egelian media led to a cooling down of relations, a fact that was reinforced by Luthori’s ascension into MATO and Egelion spearheading the signature of the Altéa Accords – widely seen as a response from Egelian diplomats to the formation of the Majatran-Artanian Treaty Organisation.
His Imperial Majesty’s state visit is hoped to restore some goodwill in bilateral relations between the two rising powers. Emperor William will meet with his Egelian counterpart, Emperor Leon Alexander (47) at the Villamor Palace, the official residence of Egelian monarchs.
The Emperor of Luthori is fluent in Luthorian (father tongue), Egelian (mother tongue), Canrillaise (through Luthorian education system) and Dundorfian (fourth language). Such skills are hoped to ensure a smooth conversation between the two monarchs while in the visit.
Emperor Leon Alexander is also a third-generation cousin of Emperor Richard II, both descending from Empress Audrey through, on one part, Queen Alicia of Egelion (known as Princess Alice at birth), who Empress Audrey’s granddaughter through her second-born daughter, Princess Alexandra and through the bloodline of Empress Katherine, the Empress’ eldest daughter for the other. Empress Audrey is the great-great-grandmother of both Emperor William XI and Emperor Leon Alexander, making the Egelian monarch having Luthorian blood in his veins.
While neither Emperor Richard II nor Emperor William XI made an official visit to Egelion, both have gone to Egelion multiple times, notably to meet with the Empress-Mother's family in the country.
