Trusted Air Forces General Grzkai Krlmékez has been named the new Prefect after the surprise retirement of Prefect Nasir.
In a surprise announcement Prefect Temrmai Nasir, who has been the diligent 'True Trade Prefect' since 5550, announced she would be stepping down with immediate effect. The Prefect looked sad during her announcement, stating that her advancing age, personal issues and claiming that her resigning would pave the way for a more "direct course of leadership", which she amplified was necessary in the current era of "international tensions". Emperor Bunjamín visited the Grand Council during the Prefect's resignation speech, personally handing her flowers and addressing her and parliament in a short address. The Emperor thanked Temrmai Nasir for her loyal service and announced she would receive the ancient title of Countess of Papel as a reward. The dynasty holding the title associated to the lands around the city of Papel went extinct several decades ago and now the newly established house of Nasir will be Count or Countess of Papel. At the end of the ceremony a majestic horse was guided into the hall of the Grand Council, a pure-bred Temrkai's Breed. This last honour was also presented to the former Prefect, making her Countess Temrmai Nasir TH (Temrkai Heijikjok). The Temrkai's Breed honour is akin to a Luthorian knighthood, giving the former Prefect a double honour from the gracious Emperor. During her tenure Prefect Nasir oversaw a continuation of the policies of the late Prefect Hldjezesti Dorfluzke-Mardoh. His infamous Long Game plan was followed to increase Wrnuke's industrial might, though Prefect Nasir always preferred to expand on trade to boost domestic industry. The Countess leaves a legacy of competence and global reach for a renewed Wrnuke.
Her successor General Grzkai Krlmékez is of a different breed. The new Prefect stood in full military uniform as he took his oath for office. In Wrnuke there are no laws against military officers serving in government posts if they get permission from the reigning monarch. Emperor Bunjamín personally signed off on General Krlmékez, His Imperial Majesty personally vouched for the staff officer after being briefed by Wrnuke's chief of staff: "Grzkai Krlmékez has shown this nation what determined leadership means, a man that knows how to take initiative, to improvise and one that respects the structure of command." The General furthermore has an exemplary record, which convinced the representatives in the Grand Council to vote in favour. Prefect Krlmékez has laid down his direct post as overseeing commander of Wrnuke's rapid response fighter squadrons but will not resign his military command. "If times of war arrive, I wish to be ready to serve wherever the Empire needs me," said the new Prefect, "whether that is in a role of direct military command or as the Prefect of Wrnuke." For now the Prefect will focus on further economic growth and a more expansive effort for military rearmament. The latter has come at the behest of the King Temrkai Think Tank, but also as a personal request of Emperor Bunjamín. The new Prefect has been noted as a fierce monarchist and has been open about his loyalties to the monarchy. Critics have stated that the new Prefect may facilitate a return to absolute monarchy in Wrnuke but a spokesperson of the Prefect denied this: "Prefect Krlmékez has been appointed by the Grand Council, as such the democratic constitutional monarchy is still intact."
