Government reports further growth after Orca Institute report
2 July 5562, Wiel, Kingdom of Wrnuke, Empire of the Jelbic Peoples

The Snta Tachásjopylz (Southern Station) in Wiel's Suadja Hafn district is currently being expanded due to the massive growth.

Almost two years ago the financial analysts of the Whale International Economic Report (WIER) published their brand new publication for the global economic state as per 5560. The file has been carefully calculated by the renowned Orca Institute for Economics. The well-known Wiel born Jelbic economics professor Klune Krsyijkaisrmo is a trusted member of this global institute. The report put Wrnuke as the eight economy of the world. While the last Vandam report was quickly dismissed by the government for lack of data the fact that a Jelbic mathematician and econometrist was involved in the WIER of 5560 made it hard to deny. As such the new Prefect acknowledged the report as truthful. Minister Akedkáhe however insisted that the numbers provided gave a "skewed measurement" of Wnruke's "true economic power". All criticism of the report aside the government seems unanimous in one perception: Wrnuke will breach the top five in the next report. Minister Hedwk Akedkáhe of Trade & Industry, the Jelbic Empire's most powerful woman in charge of the economy, has several radical ideas to increase even more growth. "For too long the Jelbosphere has been afraid of generous sector specific subsidies. In Wiel it should be our duty to finance growing sectors of our economy. Especially in member states of the Empire; look at Pontesi which right forms a miniscule fraction of the Empire's income, imagine fully financing their growing industry. The return on that alone could finance Wiel's bureaucracy for several years." The Ministry of Trade and Industry has drafted several plans to further incentivise growth across the nation. For now however the ministry is very Wrnuke-centric. This is to change in the future according to Minister Akedkáhe: "Wrnuke's largest faction within the Great Council of the Empire will propose closer economic cooperation, whether that will be accepted is up to the member states." For now however Wiel seems to be mainly investing in the domestic industry, while reinforcing trade deals across the globe. Especially mining contracts are given further financial injections as Wrnuke lacks most natural resources for its military and vehicular industry.

The growth stated in the WIER assessment has not been unexpected. Prefect Krlmékez confirmed the government expected a significant growth: "Due to the brilliant actions of my predecessor, the Countess Temrmai, the economy of Wrnuke has only grown. Her ambitious plan of 'True Trade' returned Wrnuke to the world stage. Previous regimes always attempted to return to the lost glory but look at our nation now, prosperous and strong." The previous Vandam report was dismissed by the authorities in Wiel but on hindsight has been admitted to be truthful. A former economist of the government, dr. Adlé Grnohekam, wrote a controversial blog about the shortcomings and 'paper tiger' behaviour of the Old Prefect. "Dorfluzke-Mardoh knew perfectly well that Wrnuke was in between 15 or 20 on the global rankings and nowhere near the top spot. Nonetheless a national campaign was propelled making all Jelbics believe that Wrnuke was a top five nation." Now that the Old Prefect has died the new regime seems happy with being number eight, though Grnohekam states this is only the beginning: "A positive result on a different economic ranking will give further confidence to investors." The prediction of the economist has already rang slightly true as the city of Wiel has decided to, by great demand, expand its local infrastructure. Especially the public transport lines to the financial district known as Suadja Hafn have been heavily invested in. Mayor Ershébef Vrkz stated that the expansion in Wiel has been beyond the city council's control. In a recent council session she vented her surprise at how fast the capital is growing. "No matter the objections of the opposition the expansion of public transport must happen now. We cannot be faced with a situation where transport enforcement officers are forced to reject workers from lines." In a short interview the mayor reinforced this point: "Wiel is growing, far beyond the estimates the government has given, I suspect this is happening all across Wrnuke. My tip to all other mayors is to use your local investment funds sooner rather than later, get those business parks ready, approve the housing permits and prepare for that wave of economic growth." For now the rapid growth seems to be in Wiel alone, but several companies like TBTK Krp, Jadjohydwasfabrk Hafndam, Lofrsko, SkroTek, the world-leading ZSME seem eager to invest. As well as global conglomerates from nations like Narikaton and Darnussia, Kalistan and even global investment ventures from socialist nations like Zardugal and Xsampa have shown interest in diversifying their portfolios.

Krsyiji Sagmot'l (United Media) is the national news agency of Wrnuke, it is decidedly pro-government but can at times be critical of it.
