Eryk Karcz, recently elected as Sovereign Valruzia's new leader to replace current Chancellor Zenon Golas after he announced his intention to retire from politics following the next general elections, has already achieved one milestone: he has successfully negotiated the integration of the Socialdemocratic–Agrarian Party into Sovereign Valruzia.
Karcz, who has become SW's third leader in ten years after the assassination of Dariusz Mech and the refusal of Zenon Golas to continue leading the party in the future, is the current Marshall of Ruzia since 5715, with levels of popularity similar to those of Szczepan Kozak, Kampania's Marshall and the most popular politician in Valruzia according to recent polls. Now after months of behind-the-curtains negotiations with the leadership of the SPR, he has announced that they will completely integrate into Sovereign Valruzia's structure, both in the Sejm and at party level. The decision, backed by the SPR's base by a 62-38% vote, has already brought the first dissidences at local levels, with some regional deputies and mayors rejecting this decision. According to internal sources, the negotiation included reassurances regarding agricultural policies, proper positions to speak for the SPR current leadership and prioritizing positions for its members in places where SPR has a strong base and well-known candidates.
With this movement, Sovereign Valruzia has now successfully neutralized one rival to their left, and polls are already a reflection of that. According to the latest poll released by Valruzia elect, Sovereign Valruzia would receive 51% of the vote, what would become the best result for a single party in Valruzia's post-dictatorship era after surpassing the KPW's result in 5675 under Iwan Nowik, when the communists reached 50.8% of the popular vote and obtained 314 seats, one of the only two instances where a single party has obtained an absolute majority in the Sejm — with the other instance being also from the KPW the prior elections, in 5670.
It's precisely the KPW the party that would suffer the heaviest blow as a consequence of this merge, with the poll giving them a 13% of the vote, tied with the last elections result as their worst in their history. The KPW, once a dominant force in Valruzian politics especially in the second half of the 57th century when it was the most voted party from 5660 to 5690 under the leadership of former Chancellor Iwan Nowik, son of Szymon Nowik, now finds itself in a deep crisis, still part of many Valruzian governments but unable to capitalize power, suffering political pressure from their flanks from Sovereign Valruzia and especially in what used to be their stronghold, Kampania, where the People's Front of Kampania — a split from the KPW created by former wrestling champion Szczepan Kozak — has stolen many of its previous base support in the region.
Karcz, who has expressed his support for Gawel Sandów's run for the Chancellery–Presidency, has his eyes set not in the upcoming elections but in the 5625 elections, according to sources close to him, once Gawel Sandów retires from the political arena — that is, according to Sandów's own words. For now, if he manages to win an absolute majority in the Sejm, he aims to push for the implementation of a wide range of measures, both in the social and economic field, effectively becoming the "shadow hand" behind a futurible cabinet of Gawel Sandów.
