Mayor of Puerto Blanco (PSL), Pedro Gálvez criticizes "illegal occupation of Bentasur"; Says "Kalistan should simply go home and move on."

Within the myriad of Duchy Politics, Manzamal remains an anomaly. Compared to the largely PSSG dominated Marligantos, the centre-left Vintalli, or the swing Duchy that is Cuernatecas (which frequently switches between liberal conservatism and social democracy), Manzamal stands out for being a starkly right wing Duchy in Gaduridos, as the Free Soil Party and the National Party of Gaduridos (mostly Free Soil as the National Party has been declining in recent years) have been frequently elected to mayor status in cities and towns across the Duchy and while they've never been able to win governorship in Manzamal (thanks to a consistent centre coalition in the State Congress), this hasn't stopped Free Soil from trying to define the narrative where it can.

With Manzamal bordering Tukarali, a communist state, Free Soil has had an easy time using anti communist fears to gain ground, but equally, they've been able to rally support over the ever so controversial issue of Bentasur. This week, one mayor, from the coastal city of Puerto Blanco, one Pedro Gálvez, has been very vocal about Bentasur, calling the naval base an "illegal occupation".

Let's not beat around the bush here. Bentasur, is rightfully Gaduri. There's no other way about that. No one is denying that. And yet, the naval base doesn't fly a Gaduri flag. Why is that? Because it's under an illegal occupation! That's why! I'm not afraid to call it what it is. Kalistan is illegally occupying what is rightfully Gaduri land and disrespecting our national sovereignty. All because they want to pretend like they're the victim of the Anantonese Divorce. They restrict our sovereignty under the Anantonese Empire, and then abandon us and then play victim! They should just hand the base back over to Gaduridos and move on from the past. You don't see Luthori begging to hold onto its imperialist past, now do you? Our beautiful country needs to finally move on from the past and that starts with having Bentasur Naval Base flying a Gaduri Flag, and not a foreign Kalistani flag.

Despite the controversy, voters in Manzamal have been supportive, most especially in Bentasur, and it's clear that not only is the Manzamal branch of the PSL, but the entire national PSL is trying to force a conversation on Bentasur and get the de la Cruz administration to do something about Bentasur. Whatever the case, with Pedro Gálvez winning re-election last month, Puerto Blanco certainly shares his view on Bentasur, and the issue will continue to be a defining one for the Duchy, and the wider country, most especially from nationalist circles, as Gálvez has been praised by the PSL and National Party (and even a few left wing nationalists) for speaking out on the issue, something that the PSSG has notably been silent on.
