Federal Kingdom takes shape through Sovereign Ordinance of the Crown

Sharba - In a solemn ceremony held yesterday within the Throne Hall of the Maroon Palace in Sharba, His Majesty King Adane II signed into law the Sovereign Ordinance of the Crown, the most significant reorganisation of the Coburan state in living memory, and the cornerstone upon which the Federal Kingdom's prosperous future shall be built. 

The ceremony was attended by the newly appointed Privy Council, provincial governors, senior military commanders, and the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, who stood in silent witness as His Majesty assigned the royal seal to the document. Crowds gathered outside the gates of the Maroon Palace throughout the morning, many waving the purple and gold of the royal standard in a demonstration of the profound affection the Coburan people hold for their sovereign.

The Sovereign Ordinance of the Crown restructures the executive apparatus of the Federal Kingdom in its entirety. Each of the six new Provinces Egato, Tokundi, Dilganato, Domale, Praeclara and Irkawa, will henceforth be administered by a Crown's Governor appointed directly by the Crown. Critics of the old order will recognise this as a long-overdue correction. The previous system of elected provincial assemblies, described by His Majesty's government as "a source of chronic paralysis and factional interference," produced not genuine autonomy but merely the appearance of it, local power captured by narrow interests, unaccountable to the nation and deaf to the needs of the people they claimed to serve.

Under the Sovereign Ordinance, that changes. Each Crown Governor will maintain a Provincial Advisory Council drawn from local civic, commercial, and community leaders, ensuring that the distinct character and traditions of every Province remain not only preserved but formally represented in the machinery of government. Egato, Tokundi, Dilganato, Domale, Praeclara and Irkawa each carry centuries of proud and distinct heritage, heritage the Crown has no wish to diminish, and every intention of honouring. What the Ordinance abolishes is not provincial identity, but provincial dysfunction. The Federal Kingdom remains, in the fullest sense, federal, its diversity celebrated, its unity guaranteed.

At the national level, all cabinet ministries are brought under direct royal supervision. Ministers are to be appointed and dismissed at the King's pleasure, without requirement of parliamentary endorsement. The Privy Council, chaired by His Majesty himself, will serve as the supreme executive body of the Federal Kingdom, coordinating the work of all ministries and ensuring that the Crown's vision is carried faithfully into policy and law. Where previously the cabinet was subject to the shifting winds of parliamentary coalition, it may now act with the decisiveness and consistency that stable governance demands.

The Ordinance further establishes the Office of Royal Proclamation, which will serve as the official channel through which all royal decrees, appointments, and statements of national policy are communicated to the Coburan people. The Royal Messenger has been designated the Gazette of Record for all such proclamations, operating from our offices here in Sharba.

His Majesty concluded his address with a dedication to the people of all six Provinces, invoking the memory of the great Adrian II, the monarch who unified the Kingdom, extended prosperity to all its peoples, and proved that strong and benevolent rule was no enemy of the nation's flourishing. It was a comparison this paper submits the Coburan people will find not only apt, but richly deserved.
