Clear skies greeted Valruzian Chancellor–President Aleksandra Kos at her arrival at the Ananto Estate in Eveari, Grand Duchy of Ananto, where she was scheduled to meet Kalistan's Empress Carolina II Ananto and the Chancellor of the Empire Sir Johnathan Mickelson. The presence of both the Empress and Chancellor Mickelson lends a significant weight to the meeting, having the highest authorities of Kalistan meeting the highest Valruzian authority.
It has been a while since the highest authorities of both nations last meet – the last time being under the mandate of then-Chancellor Krystian Barela, who ended his term in 5705 – but it has been even longer since a head of government of Valruzia has set foot in Kalistan. "There's nothing deep in the reasoning behind that" said a senior diplomat "the Kalistani Empress has a palace for her leisure in Valruzia where she oftens spends time, and contacts between both diplomatic bodies are constant and fluid. There was simply no high-level relevant issues to discuss that couldn't be done through the usual diplomatic channels, because Valruzia and Kalistan have had since decades ago a fluid relationship"
Although this time's meeting it's technically also an informal audience – tea with opium is served – relevant issues are to be discussed. Already aware of the widely known Kalistani tea tradition, Chancellor–President Aleksandra Kos however politely declined to take the same, as she is a firm defender of non-drug liberalization in Valruzia, and doing otherwise would send contradictory messages across her home nation. And she knows how to decline it. In fact, as a former ambassador, she perfectly knows about protocols and moves graciously among them, and for that reason she accepted a mere cup of Kalistani tea. "I've been told it's among the world's finest" she told the Empress.
But despite it being technically an informal audience, serious issues were discussed, most notable the involvement of Kalistan in the early steps of the newborn Morskina, through a partnership including the sharing of technology on hydrogen fuel cells for new Valruzian ship projects along with the nuclear ones in order to reduce the dependency on the diesel ones; as well as carbon fiber steel technology for hulls developed by Kalistan, used to make ships lighter and faster while not sacrificing maneuverability. The idea is that ultimately, Valruzia ends up developing their own projects, but not having to start from scratch.
"Kalistan has been very willingly helpful in this matter, and we see a bright future together not only for both nations' shipping industries, but also for the relationship as a whole." said the same senior diplomat. According to internal sources, both nations have agreed to work on deeper relationships in the maritime industry, which will strengthen the Northern Seleyan continent as a whole by covering both sides – East and West – of it.
Chancellor–President Kos will remain in Kalistan for three days, where she will make a tour throughout the country to get to know more "about one of Valruzia's closest allies".
