Special edition one century of the Republic: Public perception of Valruzian political leaders throughout a hundred years

Citizens asked to grade Valruzian chancellors since the year 5624 from 1 to 10

The Valruzian Centre for Social Research has conducted a survey to mark the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Republic. To this end, citizens of Valruzia were asked to rate all the heads of government the country has had since the fall of the Morawski dictatorship on a scale of 1 to 10, with the results shown in the image above. Unsurprisingly, Chancellor Szymon Nowik far outpaces all his successors, with just 8% of citizens giving him a rating of 3 or lower and a recognition rate of just 2% — the lowest figure alongside that of current Chancellor–President Aleksandra Kos. He is also the figure that receives the highest percentage of a perfect grade, with more than 20% of Valruzian citizens rating him with a 10. For his children, however, there are varied figures of both recognition and value.

Consistently throughout the survey, Chancellors belonging to the Communist Party of Valruzia (KPW) – Iwan Nowik, Roksana Parzych and Judyta Kram – see the highest levels of polarization and are the three Chancellors with the highest percentage of being graded with a 1, while at the same time in the case of Chancellor Iwan Nowik being among the top 3 chancellors graded with a 10.

The lack of familiarity with these figures is particularly striking in the case of three specific Chancellors: Zuzanna Kosowska, who succeeded Szymon Nowik; Marzel Zagórski, who succeeded Krystian Barela; and most predominantly Faustyna Sabala, who despite holding power for a whole legislature was unable to pass any meaningful law as her government was brought to power more for the sake of preventing Iwan Nowik from revalidating his position than from a true spirit of collaboration between the parties that formed her government. In fact, one third of Valruzians declare their non-familiarity with her figure, and she is the Chancellor with the highest percentage of grades 1-4 (32%, almost another third). In the three cases, they all succeeded a highly popular figure who overshadowed them.

Current President–Chancellor Aleksandra Kos draws also impressive figures for an incumbent, with more than 70% of those surveyed grading her with 5 or more, and being the second figure with most 10s, only behind the very own Szymon Nowik.
