Baatrynsentii - After decades out of active politics the Strauß family has announced their return through a new political party, the "Party of the People". The announcement was made by Amelia Strauß, great-great-granddaughter to former People's Action Party leader Gerhard Strauß.
The Strauß family is known in New Verham for their prominence in the pre-gaoist era of New Verham politics, coming from a distinguished political background within Südland its political scene. Gerhard Strauß refounded the PAP after its ban by New Verham authorities, rebuilding it into a strong political party. The family remained active within the party up until its end, although they relinquished any leadership positions years before Yeke Anarba would dissolve the party.
Following the PAP its demise, the family stepped back from active politics. But, according to Amelia, "the current situation in this country has forced us to look in the mirror and think to ourselves: is this what we want for New Verham?"
They describe their new party, abbreviated as AN, as a big-tent, welcoming people from across the political spectrum. The party may feel familiar for the average voter, as it is explicitly advertised as a party seeking to unify different political leanings and stabilize the New Verham political scene, "similar to the PAP in its prime." Amelia is its first leader, with her father Alexander having been appointed as party president. The party seeks a return to a full FPTP electoral system for the Supreme Congress, judicial reforms that allow provinces more autonomy in the field, a "economic revival" focussed on a mixed-market approach and a socially conservative agenda that seeks to push for family friendly policies.
During the press conference Amelia Strauß was pressed on the family its historic ties with the Straußist Front, a far-right party largely considered to be neo-fascist by opponents. Amelia reffered to the lawsuit the family filed against the party nearly a century ago, and to the fact that the party has since been dissolved. She refused to comment on similarities in the new AN social platform with that of the Front.

The reentry by the family comes at a time where the incumbent minority government by the center-left United Democrats is facing intense pressure for their lack of accomplishment. In the nearly 6 months since the government took office it has failed to restart the economy, has yet to propose its social agenda and has not managed to pass a single bill in parliament. Bickering with its confidence and supply partner the ADK has also caused issues, with some fearing a motion of no confidence against the government coudl trigger new elections. If elections were to happen, the new "Party of the People" is "more then ready" according to its leader Amelia Strauß.
