State Visit to Midway; The creation of the Wirasena Naval Base.

As elections loom next month, the Tselha Administration has looked to a state visit with Midway. The goal of the state visit was originally to improve relations and ties between the two countries, especially as Xsampa reaffirms itself in Dovani. And that goal was largely achieved, as the state visit was successful, and while no economic investments did occur, currently existing trade deals were expanded. But perhaps the biggest shock out of the deal was the announcement that Xsampa shall construct a naval base in Midway, particularly in the province of Wirasena. 

Being the first naval base abroad in quite some time, this naval base will allow Xsampa to further project power over the Sovereign Sea, and perhaps most crucially, the Midway Canal. While the Sea of Carina remains outside of the XDANs operational sphere due to a lack of sustainable means of getting there, the Wirasena Naval Base is putting that into question. After all, if Xsampa is finally looking to have bases abroad, then the Sea of Carina may be a potential focus for Xsampa. And with Xsampans favouring s more assertive foreign policy, the Wirasena Naval Base is being welcomed by many.

Of course, Xsampa will agree to pay a tax for the base, as we aren't bourgeois neo-imperialists and Midway will receive the benefits of that tax. But the relationship between Midway and Xsampa is shaping up to be a productive relationship. Whatever the case, the naval base will certainly allow Xsampa to extend its influence over the Sovereign Sea, and perhaps even show interest in the Midway Canal.
