As the country goes through its worst economic crisis and drought ever recorded, it seems that the Sublime Federal Republic of Istapali's will soon go through a political crisis to form an unholy trifecta of doom and despair.
The first signs of the crisis showed itself when the People's Party for Freedom lost their 30 year long grip over the capital Namaji to the Alliance for Hope and Prosperity in a massive blow to their credibility and reputation as the natural part of governance in Istapali. Even then, the ACP only managed to win a majority by forming unprecedented coalitions with the Pan-Dovanian Pact for Socialism, a rising political force which seems to feed from the current chaos engulfing the country.
To add fuel to the fire, reports of local government officials in the North rerouting the already scare water supplies to their private properties and emptying the reserves that were meant for the local population consume has sparked outrage all over social media. On top of that, the Ministry for Health and Family released a statement warning mothers in the north from breastfeeding their infant due to a recent Ebola outbreak across the region which has left the medical staff triaging because of the lack of resources and proper infrastructure.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Defense raised the salaries of its workers and soldiers in general by 15% on "grounds of ensuring Istapali's sublime defense network" which didn't land with citizens at all when the first signs of a food shortage began showing themselves openly. The production of wheat and rice has already fallen by 35% and reports of a crop virus spreading among the upcoming sewing season has made the hopes for a return to normal impossible as the federal government is forced to now import double the amount of agricultural products to try and keep up with skyrocketing food insecurity.
Seeing the chaos gripping the Istapalese political scene, the speaker of the federal assembly Simba Coghlan has stepped down from her position from the "unclear political majority in the assembly who seems to only care on maintaining their stuffed salaries while the common folk suffer." Her resignation was then followed by those of the parliamentarian clerks and secretaries, effectively paralyzing the legislature until a new speaker is elected clerks hired.
