Helios - Following his suprise win in the first round of this months presidential elections, Centre Party leader Theodóros Kallívas has spoken to supporters in front of his family practice, calling his advancement into the second round "a clear signal from voters." Kallívas, normally heavily criticizing the incumbent government, struck a reconilliatory tone in his address, calling for unity ahead of the second round and describing this election "as a potential turning point for our country." 

His Centre Party is known for its vocal oppossition to presidentialism, with Kallívas himself saying that he "is running to diminish" the position of President. The presidential candidate seems to acknowledge however that such a change might not be happening this term, instead pledging to focus "on issues where we can both give more autonomy to local communities, while also maintaining sensible, moral leadership." He further reiterated that he will not oppose everything the government brings forward but will "measure their actions on a scale that takes into account the diverse nature of the electorate."

As hinted at in earlier points during his campaign, Kallívas announced that if elected he would renounce his Centre Party leadership and only serve one term as president. 

Our main goal is bringing back intergrity and common sense within the presidency. I do not seek power. I am not running for my party. I am running for Kalopia and with the firm believe that i can truly be a transitional president that may usher in a period of political stability

When asked whether he things the government might collapse before the second round due to split support on the Law on Prohibiting Non-Governmental Paramilitary Outfits, Kallívas refused to comment, stating that his focus "is on the presidential race" and that the current situation in the government "does show the need for a change on that front."
