Breaking: DLF Flips at Last Moment, Early Election Bill Fails

The Democratic Left Front switched its vote on the early dissolution bill in the final moments of voting, sinking it. The final tally: 189 yes, 138 no, 122 abstain, well short of the 225 needed to pass. The Rose government continues. There will be no early election.

The reversal followed days of pressure after CPB Spokesperson and Minister of Justice Kerron Caley publicly argued the government deserved to finish its mandate rather than be dissolved eight months in. A DLF source close to leadership told this newspaper: "Caley made the argument better than we'd made it to ourselves."

Caley was gracious in response. "This isn't about who was right. The DLF looked at it again and made a different call. That takes courage. We're glad to keep working alongside them."
