                          Chairwoman Stagakes resigns!

This is just in! Earlier this morning KDP Chairwoman and founder Eirene Stagakes, resigned from her Party position after tremendous pressure from members of the KDP Leadership Comitee. Leading the charge against founder Stagakes was mainly the General Secretary Nikodemos Krateros (also Minister of Finance) and former party Dep.Chairman Foivos Lysandrou. Due to party protocol and because of the "shaky" political ground after the last elections, Deputy Chairman and Minister of Trade and Industry Georgios Karassos will be provisional Chairman for the time being, leading the party in the post-Stagakes era. Concrete reason has not been given about Stagake's resignation, but several pundits speculate it was pressure from many party members that felt let down after several shortcomings of the Chairwoman such as low presidential candidate score, inability to win more seats in the Parliament in several key elections, and not promoting the works of several party members that served as ministers in the government such as Minister of Infrastructure Nikiforos Parnassos.
Many sources claim that elections for a new chairman may start when the matter of the Fourth Thanopoulos Government is settled and favorites appear to be current provisional Chairman Georgios Karassos, party MP Iris Laimou (also founder of the organisation Women in Politics) and current Minister of Science, Technology and Development, Alexios Papapas.
