Kermode-Gilbert Elected President

Aalin Kermode-Gilbert is the new President of Beluzia. With 53.7% of the vote and a margin of nearly four million ballots, the Civic Party of Beluzia leader defeated the Rossanian League's Herman Gawe in the second round of the presidential election. Turnout stood at 85.6%, 52,409,881 Beluzians cast a ballot.

The result represents one of the most remarkable turnarounds in recent Beluzian electoral history. Kermode-Gilbert entered the runoff trailing by over nineteen points. She leaves it as head of state.

The geography tells the story. She carried Negunia by 36.5 points, Bamburgh by 25.8, and Harlingen by 23.0, a clean sweep of three sheadings, enough to overcome Gawe's dominant margins in Bailon and Westmoreland. The cross-party coalition she assembled, PLOV, Social Democrats League, Beluzian Progressives, PUD, Federalists, and the People's Party, proved decisive. Of the roughly 24% of the electorate who moved between rounds, the vast majority went to her.

Speaking to supporters in Cirrane, the President-elect kept it brief. "Beluzia chose unity. That is what I asked for, and that is what you gave me. I will not forget it."
