Briefing on administrative reforms of the World Congress

Whale Island, Zone 3 - During a daily briefing, the COO and Assistant General-Secretary from the OAA of the World Congress offered an update on the progress of discussions in the Bettencourt Conference with members of the Security Council and observer states.

On the General Assembly, it seems we are looking at a motion-centric reform. It will continue to welcome anyone from both the public and private domains - including representatives from states not elected to the Security Council.

Those seeking to garner international support will be able to initiate sessions and introduce motions for debate and voting. Once a motion reaches a minimum of 5 votes from other participants in the sessions, the motion maker can terminate the voting and the debate.

If the motion has a majority in favour, the motion maker can then introduce it to the Security Council.

In the meantime, Whale Island will assist with publicity on the passed motion.

We hope to gauge final positions; afterwards we will introduce the policy to the General Assembly for an extra round of debate.

Our goal is to make sure we have popular support in implementing these changes.

Thus far these reforms on amplifying the General Assembly's platform and providing a purpose to its broad scope via a mechanism of motions has received a broad support from Ikradon, Dundorf, Lourenne and Kalistan (and Trigunia).

With the 95th Security Council getting ready to kickstart its term, the OAA looks to Beiteynu and Kanjor for a statement on their positions.

Remaining observer states in the conference include Kundrati and Narikaton and Darnussia; neither of which have voiced any concerns.

All in all, we except to move forward with the new motion-centric policy for the General Assembly, should no strong objection be voiced.
