Vascanian base to close after more than 10 years of continuous naval stand-offs with Xsampa; rumours cite of Zardic influence

Himmelshtern, North Bank - Opened in 5575, the naval base in Southwest Vascania has served the Empire of the Jelbic Peoples for more than 10 years in its efforts of conducting operations and patrols in the region after the short-lived piracy incident involving a Gaduri-Yeudi oil tanker owned by Hadayim; and while Vanukean fleets have generally worked well together with the Canrillaise, Beiteynuese Admirals have been keen in antagonising Xsampa, who boldly and hypocritically ventured out for the first time in its history a few months later, jeopardising Dovanian security further.

While the staunchest of military officials from the Kohav and the Beiteynuese Naval Command have remained adamant in "not giving a inch" in all these decades of a simmering cauldron of Beiteynuese-Xsampan affairs, both the intelligence community and the Saham have been lobbying the Nisrad of Himmelshtern to remove a "costly and dangerous prop", including but not limited to the Zaar Fleet's deployment of 8 warships on that base.

What seems to have alleviated the concerns of officers with the Beiteynuese Defence Force is Xsampa's condemnation of Kasaema a couple of years ago; that incident, coupled with the appointment of Zardic-Yeudi Rebecca Tzafrir to the position of Zardugal's Commissar of Economic Affairs last year, seems to have added to the Neset's own lobbying efforts on the Nisrad of Himmelshtern to "cut down on antagonising elements".

Following the closure of the base in the next couple of years, the warships assigned to the Zaar Fleet in Southwest Vascania under the direct military command of Wiel will be re-assigned under Shahar Fleet formations with the 3rd Point Federation.

Kadima II will continue conducting operations in the region alongside Canrillaise forces, which seem rather capable at keeping friction at bay.
