Dispatches of War (Indrala)
Struggle for Dahriel
After weeks of fighting, the Kalistani city of Dahriel has proved to be a formidable enemy. The small Indralan force sent to take the city has struggled in their attack, largely due to Kalistani nationalist fervor, giving the Kalistani soldiers the morale to fight, and the geography of Dahriel's surroundings. It can take up to a day to move artillery to strategic places, making them less effective in the short run. Already, Indrala has lost over 500 men to casualties of some sort, many of them due to the disease. If this continues without respite, a victory over Dahriel will look more like a loss than a victory.
Northern Expeditionary Forces Enters Angry Mountains, Ambushed from All Sides
Finally securing the Bluegrass Valley, the Northern Indralan Expeditionary Force has entered the Angry Mountains on their way to Kaliburg. Despite the siege of Dahriel looking more like a person slowly bleeding out, Indralan military officials deem it worthy to continue with the pincer attack, expecting Dahriel to fall regardless of what happens. The goal now is to make it through the Angry Mountains and meet up with the Dulnerstaad forces to take Kaliburg head on. Unfortunately, the mountains of Kalistan are far more dangerous than they appear.
Every few miles or so, the expeditionary force is ambushed by Kalistani guerillas, no doubt barbarian mount men high on drugs believing Indralans to be fairy invaders, who manage to successful pick off two or three soldiers before the Indralans can respond. The mountain paths make it extremely difficult for the force to do much of anything in its defense. It must reach a valley before it can adequately defend itself.
In even worse news, two planes from the Black Tortoise Fleet have disappeared over the Angry Mountains. They were on a reconnaissance mission in addition to helping secure the Northern Expeditionary Force's path to Kaliburg. It is believed the planes have been shot down by the drugged up guerilla fighters, most likely believing the planes to be fire breathing dragons sent to kill their sheep. Certainly, the Ananto Invasion has proved a bit costlier than imagined.
Kaliburg Begins to Burn
Earlier this morning, Indralan ships have begun to shell the Kalistani capital, Kaliburg. Targets have explicitly been government buildings and any building that may serve a military purpose, but there will always be civilian casualties. Indrala has pledged to care for the victims once they take the city, setting up hospitals and camps to provide relief. Hopefully, the taking and destruction of the city will get the Kalistani government to the negotiating table to end piracy once and for all.
