In the aftermath of the burst of diplomatic activity following Lodamun’s withdrawal from the Neset Treaty, and the subsequent “mishegoss” related to the Beiteynuese reaction, Secretary of State Oliver Caillou has refuted claims that the safety of Yeudi people within Lodamun and by extension North Seleya was supposedly at risk. At a press conference held at Whitehall in Kensington, Secretary Caillou, speaking alongside Whitehall Press Secretary Lauren Williamson, clarified that Lodamun’s withdrawal from the Neset treaty formed part of a broader rethink of its relationship with the Majatran state but did not represent the re-emergence of hostility between Kensington and Yishelem. “Our withdrawal from the agreement formed part of a much larger re-evaluation of our relationship with Beiteynu and does not, as is being suggested by officials connected to the Beiteynuese Government, represent a clear and present danger to the safety and livelihood of the Beiteynu-Yeudi diaspora in Lodamun and North Seleya by extension. As such there is nothing to mediate between our two states. Our relations remain cordial towards Beiteynu in the same manner our relations with Luthori remain cordial despite our withdrawal from the Commonwealth diplomatic/economic framework. If they themselves have come to a differing conclusion, it would not undermine the relationship we have now with that them [Beiteynu],” the Secretary clarified. 

He noted that Lodamun had long mulled its relationship Beiteynu, pointing to the nation’s clear policy of aggression throughout recent history. This ultimately falls in line with the sentiment held within Kensington following the Migrant’s Pass debacle wherein a diplomatic incident surrounding the deployment of an Expeditionary Action Group (EAG) to Malivia caused a major stir within Majatran geopolitics, notwithstanding the deployment being part of Lodamun’s sovereign abilities as an independent state. In the aftermath of the event, after it became clear to many policymakers and thinkers within Lodamun that Beiteynu’s often brash reaction were nothing put “feeblish” attempts to drag the nation into conflicts, many have turned towards Narikaton and Darnussia as a voice of reason within the space. “I think what has been missing from Beiteynu’s conclusions related to our withdrawal from that Neset Treaty, is ultimately, the direct role they had in the supposed unfavourable outcome,” Owen Gordon, an analyst with the Centre for Geostrategic Policy and Research explained. “There isn’t anything to “ascertain” beyond the need for introspection within Yishelem itself.”

Secretary Caillou noted that although had withdrawn from the Neset Treaty, it did not mean that the nation had become cut off from consular/embassy services. Here he noted that the Beiteynuese Embassy in Kalistan would nonetheless have to begin processing requests from citizens in Lodamun. “Citizens of Beiteynu seeking assistance from their embassy ought to do so via the Embassy in Kalistan. If the “digitalization” of Beiteynu is to be believed, such services should already be online and available for access for persons anywhere throughout the world. This alongside the fact that travel from Lodamun to Kalistan is relatively inexpensive owing to the TSR, this transition should be seamless.” Caillou noted. In rounding out questions related to the treatment of Yeudi citizens in the absence of the treaty, Whitehall Press Secretary (Insert) noted that Beiteynuese citizens/Yeudi diasporans would be treated as any nation citizen of any other nation. Pointing to the analogy introduced by Kalistani Foreign Minister Sir Christopher Bjorksdattir, she noted that although Kalistan is not a member of the Neset Treaty, their citizens had been treated with fairness under Kalistani law. 

“Kalistan is not a member of the Neset Treaty and Yeudi diasporans have been treated with fairness under Kalistani law, a similar atmosphere/policy will emanate within Lodamun. Tourists, travellers and what have you have always been treated with respect in Lodamun as we are a nation of laws and have always demonstrated our eagerness to do right by ourselves and others,” Williamson concluded. Some have noted that Beiteynu’s conclusion of “unusual patterns of perceived hostility”, form part of a broader fabrication on the part of the government in Yishelem, recognising that as a result of its own actions, Kensington no longer views it as a competent nation in the MP zone. “Narikaton and Darnussia has henceforth been the primary nation they [Lodamun] have communicated with on matters related therein. It is their conclusion that Bannerhafen may be the more reasonable of the two,” Gordon quipped.
