THE HOIZAU PAPER

Fung Wins Re-Election, Fulfills Promise to Re-instate Cou Mong
March 10, 5594

Incumbent President-elect Fung Failung (馮輝龍) has won a second term as Yingdala's Head of State and has publicly declared that he will be elevating Cou Mong (曹莽), former Deputy Defense Minister, to full-time Defense Minister of the second Fung cabinet. The move was met with indignation by both the opposition Anarcho-Communist Party but also Fung's own Unity Party, as Cou is an anti-partisan and anti-republican figure. Nonetheless, Cou is incredibly popular with the populace and it appears as if Fung was willing to sacrifice political ammunition within Congress to bolster his public appeal, which has been slipping as of late due to increased political violence on the streets and the formation of both Anarcho-Communist and Unity Party paramilitaries.

Cou, a devout Jienist, is widely held by conservative and restorationist sectors of society as the paragon of imperialist moral virtue and character. Despite public cries for his return, Cou willingly appeared in public and on social media in 5591 to tell the mobs to calm down, resolving to respect the decisions of his superiors and thanking President Fung for his generosity during his brief tenure as Deputy Defense Minister. Cou then humbly returned to Kaizhou and poured his remaining economic resources into continuing to fund scholarships and institutions of Jienist learning and education.

Since the public reveal of his planned restoration, Cou has declared his intent to make security and social harmony a priority under President Fung's direction, calling on the military and law enforcement to work together and control the paramilitaries. Political violence has escalated between Unity Party-friendly law enforcement and Anarcho-Communist Party-backed labor unions lately, and many fear that the paramilitary situation could prove untenable should the government fail to take action. This follows the greater republican trend of political and partisan affiliation retarding the abilities of the government to maintain the peace and rule equitably and justly for all people, a situation many restorationists hope to remedy through the abolition of the Republic and the restoration of the Imperial Family.
