Mūngerican Truth
5600, May 10 - President Ts. Tömörbaatar Calls on International Community to Recognize Mūngerica's Native Name
President of the Democratic Republic of Mūngerica, Tsakhia Tömörbaatar, is officially making his request known to Terra that from now on the sovereign republic will decline to be recognized any longer as "New Verham", proclaiming that it will be necessary to recognize the native name of Mūngerica, which means "Thousand Houses" or "Many Yurts".
The move comes after Tömörbaatar was swept into political office just weeks ago alongside other Panmuan Mu-Tze nationalists in the Mūngerican People's Party (ᠮᠠᠭᠤᠩᠭᠡᠷ ᠠᠷᠠᠳ ᠤᠨ ᠨᠠᠮ, Муунгөр Ардын Нам, МАН), a syncretic populist movement that has promised to eliminate the last vestiges of foreign corruption within the nation and to revive the glorious legacy of the Panmuan Khanate all the way in Seleya. The MAH sees the continued use of "New Verham" by the international community to be an insult to the Panmuan people and their heritage, as Mūngerica has little to do with old Verham after which it has been named.
Traditionally, though the nation has been called Mūngerica (ᠮᠠᠭᠤᠩᠭᠠᠷ/Муунгөр ) domestically at home, it has accepted that the international community prefer to stick to the old colonial name of "New Verham". With the newly ascendant MAH seeking to galvanize the public torwrds more national pride and anti-colonialist sentiment, however, it appears that this standard will no longer be acceptable to use for Mūngericans.
Besides the cultural revival and ascendance of the Panmuan people, the MAH is also seeking the revitalization of the national economy through extensive subsidies and the expansion of what has been a stingy state budget. It hopes to alleviate rural poverty and modernize Mūngerica through wealth redistribution from affluent city centers to the plains and farms, raising concerns that the pastoralist rural communities were falling behind the increasingly rich urban elite.
