Luthori marks landmark 57th Century with celebrations across the Realm.

Fort William, Luthori - Dawn set in the Empire as today marks the first day of the year Five-Thousand-Six-Hundred, and also, the first day of the 57th century. As the Luthorian Empire celebrates the beginning of this new century, some changes took place in the country before that date. Politically, Luthori experienced a change in governance some years ago, as the Government of the Lord Southpton has collapsed in a vote of no-confidence as his shaky coalition composed of the Conservative Party, the Liberals and the Hosian Democrats collapsed under the weight of the pressure caused by the difference of ideologies between the Liberal Party, who has embraced a more liberal and progressive direction under the leadership of Mrs. Alexandra Koehler and Chloe Larinovna, both descendents of immigrants families who steered the Liberal Party towards a less amicable position in regards to both the Tories and HDA's seemingly "uncompromising" stance on conservatism. Both party leaders also stood against the Government in numerous occasions in Parliament, frequently joining the Opposition in crucial votes and creating ties with the National Labour Party. 

Meanwhile, the Hosian Democrats seems to have increasingly became more affiliated with the Conservatives as both parties recently signed a "Co-Operation" agreement, which means that the HDA lawmakers would receive the financial backing of the Tories and not see any Conservative or Conservative-backed candidate in their constituencies. While this agreement is meant to acheive some form of stability in the right, it only showed the increasing influence of the "ideological right" within the Party, as, due, in part to the collapse of the Holy Land's government into anarchy after an ill-fated decision to send a nuclear warhead towards the capital of Xsampa, Metz-Leonid, the right-wing of the Conservatives, eager for the "reconquest" of the Holy Land has begun to take up leadership roles in the Party, with the Senator/Lord Stephen Wilkinson, Earl of Williamsbrough taking over the position as Conservative Senate Leader. The Tories also scored a big victory in the Senate with Camilla Morgan, heiress to the Dukedom of Morvenshire taking over as the first "Lady" Speaker of the Senate.

In the other side, in the Imperial Diet, due to repeated tensions within the Coalition, the Liberals announced unilaterally that they were leaving that said coalition, announcing that they would support the Opposition in a vote of no-confidence against the Lord Southpton's Cabinet, which at that time, had effectively collapsed. The vote passed as expected and the Prime Minister tendered his resignation to the Empress, who then appointed, as per with tradition, a member of the Privy Council was appointed as the Prime Minister, that member was the Privy Counsellor Sir Gustav Ekdahl who was appointed as Prime Minister by the Empress, with the expectation to run a "cohesive, moderate and reassuring" administration before the general elections that were decided after the prorogation and subsequent dissolution of Parliament.

As expected, the Tories scored a decisive victory and were likely to form a new administration, alone. With the Liberals having been thrown into the opposition and the HDA firmly in the Conservative side, the Party's big names gathered to choose their new leader and submit a name to the Empress to appoint as Prime Minister, as she called them to the Palace for "consultation" purposes. The name that came out was the name of the infamous Lord Northminster, one of the oldest and most powerful members of the House of Hamilton and ex-officio, one of the most powerful members of the Tory Party's right-wing, Sir Timothy Hamilton III, Duke of Northminster who was asked by the Empress to form a government in her name on Hallowtide Day 5599.

With the Cabinet expected to be revealed on the month of March, the interim government has been asked to proceed with their duties as usual, as the Prime Minister changed in order to avoid any "cataclysmic" ramifications that may come with the appointment of a more right-wing government than the one who just got overthrown by the previous Parliament. Already changes are being seen with the confirmation of the Earl of Williamsbrough as Conservative Senate Leader and the appointment of Sir Richard O'Brallaghan as Conservative House Leader. Names are already flooding out as the Cabinet of the Lord Northminster is currently being formed. With issues all around the world, the appointment of figures of the Party may have an influence on the Luthorian Government's policy towards the Questions of the Day, such as the policy to have towards the collapsing Moledet Medinat or the recent Xsampan tragedy.

All and all, the Luthorian people seems pretty optimistic towards this new century as the last one was filled with some difficulties towards the end.
