PN-PIN GOVERNMENT PURSUES ISOLATIONIST POLICY AND UNTETHERING FROM THE EMPIRE

Léonard Boissonade, leader of Parti de l'indépendance nationale (Luth.: National Independence Party) and newly appointed minister of foreign affairs, has announced that the right-wing cabinet has finalised its new foreign policy.

"My fellow Rildanorians! It is finally time to untether ourselves from the Empire of Canrille. The Empire has brought us far, giving Rildanor it's railways and fleets, but that time is over now. Just look to our west and north, where the Aldurian War rages on, and Her Imperial Majesty does not care for it. Lourenne, once pride of the Canrillaise world and world's superpower is nothing more then stagnant sleeping colossus. As such our great nation can't be bound to the sinking ship of the Empire, and we must begin process of untethering."

According to the ministry of foreign affairs, the policy will aim to lessen Rildanor's economic and political dependence in the rest of Canrille by pursuing economic self-sufficiency, and diversifying its trade between multiple partners. Rildanor will also gradually begin withdrawing from its international agreements and commitments.

Ministry sources indicate that the foreign and economic ministries are collaborating to determine the most effective path to achieving economic self-sufficiency, with a significant expansion of Durfart Sea oil extraction operations being a key consideration. Another economic plan that has gained some popularity is the expansion of beryllium mining operations, which have commenced on a small scale in the 5580s, and the initiation of investments into the aviation industry with the aim of positioning Rildanor as a global leader in the field.

However, despite the various speculations, neither the foreign ministry nor the economic ministry has announced any concrete plans as of yet. Only time will tell if the Lajoie government will succeed in achieving Rildanor's independence, or if history will repeat itself with the attempted RINXIT referendum of 5572.
