King Sigismund III has announced he will abdicate the throne in five years, to let his daughter succeed him as the next monarch of Dolgava. In an announcement he made to the country he said that this will be a "time of transition", and that chronic illness for him. He has suffered all of his life from brittle bone disease, and this has impacted his ability to travel and to represent Dolgava abroad. His daughter Crown Princess Jaanika, will spend the next five years raining to become the next monarch of Dolgava. An excerpt of his statement is below.

It has been the honor my life to be your King, and it has been truly an honor to have the backing of the people of Dolgava. However I feel like if I continue in my capacity, I will be doing this country a disservice in continuing to stay the King. Princess Jaanika will be able to not only do what I cannot, but she will do so in grace and humility. She has my full confidence, and I ask you all to give her your support and love in the coming years as this time of change takes place.

King Sigismund III has already led Dolgava through change. The day he took the throne, he renounced the Dolgavan Imperial titles, and instead pushed for the country to become a Kingdom once again, with his "we must end imperial ambitions" speech being what he is known for. He has led the country with humility and has stayed out of the spotlight and has led from behind the scenes.

Princess Jaanika just graduated from the University of Aikums and has led a very public life. She will be spending the next few years preparing and learning on how to become the next Dolgavan monarch.
