--OVERVIEW--

Malivia is a nation at the southern tip of the continent of Artania that is notable as the birthplace of Geraja (Hinduism) and the Ekalkit (Sanskrit) language. During late Antiquity and the early Middle Ages the Malivian city state of Svarna established an expansive thalassocracy that dominated Malivia and coastal areas in Vascania and east Dovani, leading to the birth of Raktavani (Desi) cultures and languages in those areas. After the fall of the Svarna Empire Malivia came under the dominance of Hosian (Christian) Dunic (Germanic) peoples from the north, as a result of which Hosianism became the second largest religion in Malivia. Since then Malivian history has been marked by conflict between the Geraja majority and the Hosian minority.

--LANGUAGE--

The most widely spoken language in Malivia is Ekalkit (Sanskrit), which as a result of Malivian rule and influence gave birth to a large number of languages spoken in Vascania and Dovani. Most other Raktavani (Indian) languages are spoken in Malivia by residents originating in the Raktavani nations. Most Malivians use Sanskrit first names and Hindu surnames (see below). People of other Raktavani ethnicities use either Ekalkit names or names in their respective languages.

The Esinsundu community in Malivia mostly originates from Dovani’s east coast, and largely preserves its native languages. The most widely spoken in Malivia are Kitembo (Swahili), Chizaki (Chichewa), Lukizenga (Luganda), and Kimajyupo (Kinyarwanda). Of these Kitembo (Swahili) serves as a lingua franca. Most Esinsundu as a consequence use Swahili names and surnames.
