November, 5613
State Chancellor Magnus Tausche announced that the Dorvish Armed Forces would be opening a joint naval base with the Dolgavan Navy at Scharhofen, on the west coast of Dolgava as a means to facilitate training and security cooperation. The move comes as the two nations have grown closer together since a state visit in March, 5616 and have discussed increased security cooperation and training over the past several years. The opening of a naval base a Scharhofen, capable of supporting both naval vessels and aircraft, will be the first major Dorvish military installation abroad in several decades and will provide the Dorvish the opportunity to assist in security cooperation with both Dolgava and Egelion, with whom they have developed security cooperation with over the past several years. "We're excited about the prospect of working the Dolgavan Navy and Dolgavan Air Force in training and development of cooperation in security matters." said the Chief of the Supreme General Staff Generaloberst Rayk von Auspitz-Topol, who had recently taken over the post including the Minister of Defense and Inspector-General of the Armed Forces. The construction of the military port, which exists already, is expected to take a year to upgrade and the Dorvish Armed Forces will largely be footing the cost of the project as a whole. In accordance with an agreement with the Dolgavan government, approximately 50% of the contracting will be provided to Dolgavan corporations and companies and hiring mostly Dolgavan workers. "We're excited to work with our partners in Dolgava and we're eager to get to work training together. Security cooperation is paramount to the success of vital trade routes, defense of democracy and peace and stability in the world order." said State Chancellor Tausche on the announcement of the new naval base.
