Valruzian third military authority just behind Prime Minister Celestyn Strzelczyk and Szczepan Morawski himself, Chief of the Defence Staff Marcel Szumski, has just ordered all military units around the country to stand down and stop targeting civilians and protestors. By phone call, CDS Szumski has informed the Commanders of the Valruzian five military Tactical Commands of his decision, instructing them to cease all offensives against demonstrators and withdraw forces from major urban centers.

This unexpected move comes after months of escalating violence under martial law, during which military forces have been accused of committing severe human rights violations. Szumski’s decision appears to be a direct response to mounting internal pressure from certain factions within the armed forces, particularly following the defection of military units in Brzansk, which openly rebelled against the government’s crackdown and became a stronghold for resistance movements.

While there has been no immediate reply from the government following this act, the Commander of the Borderland-South Tactical Command has announced his refusal to comply with the order, proclaiming his adherence and loyalty to Szczepan Morawski, addressing CDS Szumski as a "traitor" and calling for his public execution. However, key members of the armed forces are expressing doubts about the sustainability of the violent crackdown, and are already calling it a "game-over" for Sczcepan Morawski, whether it is in a matter of weeks or months. Other reports also indicate that certain high-ranking officers within the Valruzian military are refusing to comply with Szumski’s directive, awaiting direct confirmation from Morawski.

Meanwhile, large groups of soldiers have already started retreating from city centers, particularly in Nowogard, the capital city and where this rendition could be felt more, by openly leaving unprotected the key infrastructures of the Morawski regime. Independent reports indicate that three big planes have been seen flying towards the official residence of Morawski, but without a clear purpose.

As news of the military order spreads and visions of the military retreating from the streets and in some cities, even joining them multiply, thousands of demonstrators have taken to the streets and squares in celebration, waving banners and chanting slogans against the government.

Despite this momentary relief, fear remains that the government may attempt to counter Szumski’s move by deploying loyalist paramilitary units or seeking foreign intervention.
