The Dolgavan Minister of Defense Laimzieds Krēsliņš announced today that Dolgava will be embarking on program that will have Dolgava replace its aging fleet of nuclear submarines, and replace them with brand new Śuketė Class nuclear submarines. The design which Dolgava has implemented with two generations of nuclear submarines in the past, will now be used a third time, to crate state of the art, world class nuclear attack submarines, that will primarily be tasked with defending Dolgavan shipping, defending Dolgavan sovereignty, and providing Dolgava with a means of keeping its part of treaty, to defend and control the Karzon strait, along with ensuring that Dolgavan interests are protected around Dolgavan waters

Krēsliņš said in a press conference today the details of program with the following,

Today, Dolgava will embark on ensuring our national security into the future, through protecting our shipping lanes, boosting our ship building capacity, and providing jobs to thousands of Dolgavan workers. Today, we will be announcing a 31 billion DOL plan that will create the 3rd generation of the Śuketė Class nuclear attack submarine. The total budget off the program, will also include refurbishing our submarine facilities located in Dolgariaoplis and at the Troll Mountain Submarine bases.

The shipyards that will build these 6 new submarines will be located at Dolgariaoplis and at the Troll Mountain facility. We will be bringing together Dolgava's sharpest minds, to ensure that this new generation of submarine is better than any other submarine that Dolgava has had before. The project will hopefully take 10 years to complete, however if we need to prolong the program to ensure that the submarines are the best they can be, we will do so.

Through this program, we will once again be able to protect our shores, and build a firm foundation for expanding Dolgava's naval fleet in the future. We are committed to expanding Dolgava's blue water navy, as most of what Dolgavans believe in and support. We want to ensure peace and security throughout not only our shores, but Keris and our region as well. We do that through building a capable navy!

The Dolgavan navy will be scrapping old ships in an effort to recycle steel and helping to pay for some of this program, by recycling outdated ships, they can make the program more affordable, and have responsible environmental impacts from this program. The power plant in these ships will be a more efficient nuclear reactor which produces 220 MW of power and producing 300,000 hp. It will displace 8289 tons (metric), and will be armed with 8 x 673mm (26.5 in), torpedo tubes instead and an undisclosed number of torpedo and cruise missiles in their torpedo rooms.

For months the Conservatives have been calling for increased military buildup, and with this move the Jaanus administration has made it clear that they are not afraid to build up the Dolgavan military, and this program goes to show that.
