TITLE VIII BUSINESS REGULATIONS
Section 1- Safety Regulations
VIII.1.a Regulation of advertising of substances classified as addictive and harmful- Advertising is banned.
VIII.1.b Government policy towards alcoholic beverages- Alcoholic beverages may be purchased only from licensed sales outlets, but consumed by anyone.
VIII.1.c Sale of tobacco products- There are no regulations on the sale of tobacco.
VIII.1.d Food and beverage labeling regulations- Companies must clearly label food and beverage products, in a manner that can be easily understood.
VIII.1.e Listing of controversial ingredients, such as genetically modified (GM) ingredients- Any chemicals used in agriculture or processing, and any GM ingredients must be listed.
VIII.1.f Scope of food ingredient labeling- All ingredients must be listed.
VIII.1.g Food safety policy- The government introduces, and actively enforces, food standards provisions.
VIII.1.h Licensing of food sales- Anyone may sell food, but shelf lives of foods are enforced.
VIII.1.i Health and safety legislation for industry- The government introduces and actively regulates health and safety legislation in all areas of industry.
VIII.1.j Policy on age required to purchase and drink alcohol- The age to purchase and consume alcohol is different from the age of adulthood.
VIII.1.k Policy on pharmaceutical advertisement- Pharmaceutical advertising may only be in printed material.
VIII.1.l The government's policy with respect to the production of pornography- The production of pornography is treated as any other business.
VIII.1.m Government law concerning the sales of recreational drugs- The government is entirely responsible for the controlled sales of recreational drugs through operating stores and other locations.
VIII.1.n Government regulation of pollution in industry- The government enforces highly restrictive industrial pollution standards.
VIII.1.o The government's policy concerning private cars- Only cars using environmentally friendly fuels are allowed.
VIII.1.p Waste disposal responsibility- The government is responsible for waste disposal.
VIII.1.q Regulation of the quality of drinking water- The government sets a single standard to ensure all tap water is drinkable.
VIII.1.r Government policy on animal welfare in livestock farming- The government enforces high animal welfare standards.
VIII.1.s Government policy concerning the use of pesticides- Chemical pesticides, herbicides and fungicides are banned.
Section 2- Business Operational Regulations
VIII.2.a The funding of sports clubs- Local governments decide the funding policy of sports clubs.
VIII.2.b The government's policy towards fireworks- The sale of fireworks is unregulated, anyone may buy them.
VIII.2.c The government's policy on advertising- Only advertising that meets certain set standards is permitted.
VIII.2.d Policy concerning industrial hemp- There are no regulations on industrial hemp.
VIII.2.e Government policy on industry and subsidies to industrial operations- Certain industries are owned by the state, all others are under private ownership.
VIII.2.f The government's policy regarding sexually explicit material on broadcast television- Sexually explicit material is not allowed, but nudity that is not sexually explicit is.
VIII.2.g The time at which sexually explicit content may be shown on broadcast television (if allowed)- Sexually explicit content may only be shown during hours that very few children watch. Nudity may be shown all day long.
VIII.2.h Government agricultural and farming subsidies policy- Strategic crops are produced on State owned farms. All other produce is left to the Private sector.
VIII.2.i The government's policy concerning farm size- Farms that grow too large are broken up and the land redistributed.
VIII.2.j Commercial fishing regulation- The government establishes fishing quotas.
VIII.2.k The government's policy concerning genetically modified (GM) crops- Research and selling imported GM crops is allowed. Production is prohibited.
Section 3- Banking and Finance Sector Regulations
VIII.3.a The banking system- The government operates a central bank and all other banks are private.
VIII.3.b Central Bank oversight and regulation (if a central bank exists) - The central bank is underneath the direct oversight of the Ministry of Finance.
VIII.3.c Government policy on cryptocurrency- Cryptocurrency is legal and regulated, the state will issue it's own cryptocurrency.
VIII.3.d Policy on the charging and collection of interest on loans- Banks and financial institutions charge interest on loans and are regulated
VIII.3.e Exchange rate regime- The exchange rate of the national currency is kept within a defined band of fluctuation.
VIII.3.f The government's policy regarding foreign investments- Foreign investors may freely invest in national companies.
VIII.3.g Reserve requirements for bank loans- There is a fractional reserve requirement for bank loans.
VIII.3.h The government's position towards the stock exchange(s)- Stock exchanges are allowed but are regulated. The Stock Exchange in Kalistan is called the Kalistani Stock Exchange (KalSiE).
Section 4. Labor Laws
VIII.4.a The government's policy concerning child labor- Child labor is forbidden.
VIII.4.b The right for a person to prostitute himself or herself- Prostitution is legal and a recognized profession.
VIII.4.c Government policy towards labor unions- Trade unions may exist and worker membership is voluntary.
VIII.4.d Collective bargaining- Public and private sector employees have the right to collectively bargain
VIII.4.e Legality of Closed, Union and Agency Shops- Closed shops, union shops and agency shops are legal.
VIII.4.f The workers' right to strike- All workers have the right to strike.
VIII.4.g Trade union strike ballots- Trade unions are not required by law to hold a ballot before striking.
VIII.4.h Secondary strike action- Any trade union can go on a sympathy strike in support of other striking workers.
VIII.4.i The government's policy towards daily working hours- The government obligates trade unions and employers to negotiate the daily number of working hours.
VIII.4.j Employer's rights in regards to firing striking workers- Employers cannot fire workers who have gone on strike.
VIII.4.k The government's policy towards foreign workers- Foreign nationals are treated the same as native citizens when searching for employment.
Section 5- Tax Laws
VIII.5.a Tax percentage of the profit made by corporations- 1
VIII.5.b Sales tax on essential goods such as food and non-luxury clothing- 0
VIII.5.c Sales tax on luxury goods- 10
Section 6- Corporate Governance
VIII.6.a Policy on monopolies- Monopolies are only actively enforced in specific sectors of the economy.
VIII.6.b Policy on employee representation on corporate boards- One third of corporate boards must consist of employees
VIII.6.c The government's stance on a salary cap- The government enforces a salary cap.
VIII.6.d The nation's policy on minimum wage regulation- There shall be a minimum wage at a level considered a "living wage," well above the poverty line for a full time worker.
VIII.6.e A law on employers' obligations with regards to social security contributions- All enterprises are required to cover basic payroll contributions for their employees.
VIII.6.f Positive discrimination- No form of positive discrimination is permitted.
VIII.6.g Policy on profit sharing- Companies are required to distribute a majority fraction of its profits to employees.
VIII.6.h Government policy on Democratic Workers' Councils- The government encourages the formation of Democratic Workers' Councils through subsidies and tax exemptions.
