In a ceremony steeped in tradition, Prime Minister Michael Kensington and his newly formed Liberal government were officially sworn into office today at Steuart House, with His Imperial Highness Crown Prince Albert, the Prince of Adelia, presiding over the solemn occasion. With a backdrop of growing economic uncertainty and escalating tensions abroad, Kensington wasted no time outlining his administration’s priorities, including sweeping tax and budget reforms aimed at breathing life into Hutori’s stagnant economy.

Speaking from the steps of Steuart House in Bekenial following the swearing-in, Kensington struck a decisive tone.
“For far too long, the economy has drifted—growing, yes, but not at the pace or strength that Hutorians expect and deserve. My government will act decisively to reignite growth, encourage investment, and ease the financial burdens on working families and businesses alike. The time for complacency is over.”

The new Prime Minister signaled that his first major budget in the coming months would introduce a series of tax cuts for middle-class families and small businesses, along with targeted investments in infrastructure, technology, and clean energy. The government is also expected to introduce a national economic revitalization strategy, focusing on regional economic disparities and ensuring coastal and interior provinces alike benefit from Hutori’s economic success.

Financial analysts expect corporate tax incentives to be a key element of the reform package, encouraging both domestic investment and foreign direct capital flows into the country. Early reactions from the business community have been cautiously optimistic, though some have raised concerns about potential budget deficits if revenue losses aren’t offset.

While Kensington’s speech largely focused on domestic policy, he did not shy away from the ongoing situation to the west in Kundrati.
“The reports we are receiving are extremely concerning,” Kensington stated. “My government is monitoring the situation closely, and we will take all necessary measures to ensure Hutori’s national security is not compromised.”

Though the Prime Minister did not elaborate on specific threats, sources within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Hutorian Armed Forces suggest that the government is considering heightened military readiness, particularly at Hutori’s western bases and the potentital deployment of a Carrier Strike Group into the neighborhood, espceially in light of Kundrati promises to rebuild their own Aircraft Carrier. Some within Parliament have even begun quiet discussions about potential economic sanctions, though no formal policy has yet been introduced.

King Richard II, who has long been a stabilizing force in Hutorian politics, was notably absent in today’s proceedings. While the King personally met with Kensington following the election, formally inviting him to form a government in the Crown’s name, it was the Prince of Adelia who oversaw the formal swearing in. Royal watchers however state that the King, and the wider Royal Family have privately expressed deep interest in national economic renewal and military preparedness, with the King meeting with Chief of the Defence Staff, Admiral Samantha Gold just days before the cabinet was finalized.

With 12 years of Conservative governance now over, today marks the beginning of a new political era in Hutori. While Kensington enjoys a strong electoral mandate, his government faces significant challenges, including restoring economic dynamism, addressing rising republican sentiment, and responding to geopolitical instability.
For now, Hutorians wait to see if the Kensington era will usher in the bold reforms the Prime Minister has promised.
