Interior Ministry announces large-scale overhaul to Law on State Administration
July, 5629
Interior Minister Generaloberst (Police) Oskar Kiesel has weighed a large-scale reform to the organization of the state following a number of questions raised at the Committee of Provincial Executives (Dundorfian: Komitee der Provinzvorstände) which meets regularly with the Interior Minister and the Office of Government Administration and its leader, the General-Plenipotentiary for State Administration. Underneath the current system the nation is divided into 5 historical provinces: Greater Kordusia, Westmark, Miktar, Dorvan and Largonia underneath the proposed amendments to the Law on State Administration, these five regions would remain and be overseen by an Oberpräsident (Dundorfian: Head President) which would be the Ministry of the Interior's representative to the five wider regions of Dorvik. The new proposal would see the creation of several dozen new provinces across Dorvik, mostly focused on historical regions and polities within the nation, giving wider representation to the people of Dorvik. For instance, the area of southern Miktar which was formerly part of the Kingdom of Kruthia would be divided into Kruthia and West Kruthia, giving two new provinces and two new provincial administrations but expanding representative local government to the the portions of Miktar that are now district (kreise) level. The move is designed to better enhance local government and the focusing on the adoption of new policies that support local governance and implementing policy from State to Province to District level. The Interior Ministry will provide for their own parallels administration for matters related to the state.
These new provinces will continue to maintain a Provincial Diet (Dundorfian: Provinziallandtag) which will be elected at the same time as the State Council and the Provincial Diet's will elect their own Minister-Presidents. The Minister-Presidents of the new provinces will have powers and duties similar to that of the State Chancellor. The exact layout of the new provinces has not been finalized and will be finalized over the coming months and the current administration will remain in-place.
