The Current Cabinet

Their Imperial Majesties' Government is composed of the following Ministers, who are responsible for implementation of various aspects of the law as it pertains to their Individual areas of the bureaucracy:

The Cabinet is formed by the Chancellor of the Empire, who also fills the role of the the Speaker of the Institutional Party of Kalistan, and serves as the Sovereign's Proxy in the National Assembly.  His or Her role is to coordinate the efforts of the Government, serve as the primary liaison between the Sovereign and the National Assembly, and give account and report for the action of the Sovereign in their role as Head of State to the National Assembly. 

Cabinet members are selected individuals who 1) have some practical experience in their respective Ministries, and 2) are trusted by the Chancellor of the Empire to carry out the fiat of the Emperor.  The Minister of Defense is often a member of the Regular Forces, and often then of the Regular Navy, but this is not required.  The Justice Minister is often selected from the active Judge ranks.

Ducal Governments

The titles of Duke and Duchess are now fully Hereditary, and are controlled by Ducal Houses similar in many ways to House Ananto.  The Houses take their names from the Duchy itself.  The Head of the Ducal House is the Duke/Duchess Title Holder, and they are expected to maintain the Government and administration of their own Duchy in the stead of the Sovereign, fully complying with all national laws otherwise.

Upon Entitlement, they will take the non-hyphenated name of their Duchy.

The Current Dukes and Duchesses in Kalistan, along with their Family Name:

Ananto is a Grand Duchy in and of itself and consequently, there is no Duke of Ananto, and the Duke/Duchess of Suldanor also holds the title Grand Duke or Duchess of Kalistan.  The Grand Duke or Duchess of Ananto is always also Emperor of Ananto and Kalistan (with certain exceptions).  The Grand Duke of Kalistan holds the rank of Vice Emperor within Kalistan and is Their Imperial Majesties' Personal Chief Political Counsellor.  The Grand Duke of Kalistan is also the Chair of the Kalistani Ducal Council, which aims at determining policy specifically relating to Kalistan Proper. The Alvarez family and the Ananto Family are related by marriage, and the Alvarez family therefore represents the remnants of the now defunct 4th Dynasty. Though all members to be considered for the title of Grand Duke/Duchess of Kalistan are descendant from Nicolette I Ananto, they are now out of line for royal succession and represent a cadet branch to the Main House Ananto, and are entitled to append Alvarez as the prefix to their surnames.

Lords/Ladies Mayor

While nearly all towns in Kalistan are administratively and functionally an integral part of a Barony, County and Duchy, and serve a primarily legal, administrative and economic function, several Cities in Kalistan exist outside of that structure and provide the residents a measure of self government.  They are administered by a popularly elected, non-partisan City Council that can be recalled, and to which Citizens have the right of initiative and referendum, and a Lord or Lady Mayor who is appointed by the Emperor, and retains the power of veto and voting rights only in the event of a tie, but otherwise is required to faithfully execute the ordinances and statutes passed by the City Council according to each Free City's Charter.

The Lord/Lady Mayor is required to administer the Free City and carry out ordinances of the City Council.  As the Lord/Lady Mayor is the representative of the Sovereign in the Cities, they serve at the pleasure of the Sovereign, and may be removed for any reason.  The Lord/Lady Mayor may appeal to the local County or Ducal Governments for assistance in matters that are too big for the City to handle, or could be better performed via coordination, but the Free Cities remain completely outside of County and Ducal jurisdiction, and the Lord/Lady Mayor answers only to the Sovereign.

Combined, the Lords/Ladies Mayor form a Council of Cities, which can pass advisory bills aimed at providing the Sovereign information and suggestions on the needs and wants of the Cities.

Nevaras does not have cities, and therefore, no Lord Mayors may be appointed within that Duchy.

Counts of Ananto

All County level demesnes of Ananto are life Peerages reserved for the Royal Family. Ananto's counties are personal sinecures of Members of the Royal Family- In all practical matters, the island is governed directly from Kaliburg, by the Sovereign and House Ananto. The only non-royals who may ever gain peerage in Ananto may gain it through either courtesy title, or may hold any land baronetcy or fees, life baronetcy or barony, or Viscountcy. County level demesnes are assigned for life by the Sovereign, but otherwise default to the Sovereign. Davon County does not include title to Kaliburg-Port Davon Free City, which is democratically governed and is under the administration of the Lord Mayor of Kaliburg-Port Davon, but does contain the Barony of Wilson Hill which is the personal residence of the Emperor or Empress and is outside of the Administration of Kaliburg-Port Davon.

All Counties in the Grand Duchy of Kalistan, unless assigned by the Sovereign, are administrative appointments, are named by their respective Ducal Governments, and are not life appointments, but serve at the pleasure of their respective Duke or Duchess, even if named by the Sovereign. They are, however, entitled to peerage privileges as long as they remain in County service.
