Udon Nakhon –– Following a three-day conference of conservative politicians and activists in the nation's capital, two of South Dovani’s leading conservative parties have formally established the Patriotic Alliance as a united front against the ruling NEWP-PIE coalition government. The United Conservative Front (UCF), a broad-based conservative party, and the Hanzen Heritage Party (HHP), a far-right nationalist party, have registered the coalition as an official electoral alliance to consolidate South Dovani's right-wing opposition ahead of the 5631 general election. Though the UCF and HHP have been at odds in the past, particularly over the UCF's opposition to populism, the leaders of both parties have decided to put their differences aside in order to "offer a realistic alternative government" to the electorate, calling on other opposition parties to join the coalition in order to remove the NEWP-PIE government from power.
The Patriotic Alliance will be led by the leader of its largest constituent party, with other committee roles distributed fairly among the coalition partners. Internal matters will be decided by a vote among the constituent parties, with voting power weighted according to their representation in the National Assembly. However, the coalition will not operate under a formalized governing structure, such as an executive board or politburo, leaving decisions on key issues—such as ministerial appointments and legislative priorities—up to individual party leadership bodies. According to insiders, negotiations were tense over voting independence, with the HHP insisting on the right of member parties to vote freely as a precondition for joining the alliance, whereas the UCF sought a more coordinated and formalized coalition leadership structure.
One area of unity agreed to by both parties within the Patriotic Alliance is the selection of a common presidential candidate. This decision shall be determined through a dual voting process: one vote among the coalition’s parties, weighted by their representation in the National Assembly, and another vote by the membership of each party. At its founding convention, the coalition officially endorsed independent candidate Kob Suchinda for the upcoming October 5630 presidential election. Speaking to delegates at the convention, Kob accepted and thanked the newly formed Patriotic Alliance for its endorsement, celebrating the "broad representation of ideological and political perspectives" attracted to his campaign to replace outgoing President Pichai Woraphon (NEWP) and defeat his chosen successor, Interior Minister Jintana Worasith (NEWP).
