Dáil elections enter final push as Conservatives top polls

With less than two weeks till voting starts, the campaign period has reached it's expected peak intensity. The Conservative's plurality seems almost guaranteed as latest polls show their popularity hovering around forty-five percent of the vote, followed by the incumbent Solidarity with twenty-seven percent. The leftist coalition has stumbled through failure after failure these past few months, and infighting has begun between the Democratic Socialist and Social Democratic members of the alliance following the resignation of Nóra Ryan as the alliance's chair. 

The National Coalition and Liberty Alliance have been competing for the third position on the polls, but polling now suggests that the Nationalists have gained a two percent lead. Despite this, Liberty Alliance has entered into preliminary coalition talks with the Conservatives, opening the way for a blue coalition. We can expect this coalition to entail mainly market oriented policies, alongside social and cultural conservatism.
