Government Formed in Ntoto
Negotiations between the UCP and the LDP have ended with the result being a grand coalition government between the center left and center right. At its head will be UCP leader Joshua Conway, pictured on the right, with deputy prime ministers Marilyn Hart, in the center, and Leo Seabrook, pictured on the left. Ms. Hart, the leader of the LDP, will have a portfolio in Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Seabrook, one of three independents in the chamber, will also have a portfolio in Defense. The move had been expected for months as now Prime Minister Conway was facing an easy choice between the loggerheads nationalists and the reconcilable Democrats. The three still have yet to announce the other members of the cabinet, but the Prime Minister has named his deputies, along with Army chief of staff Michael Stanton and Navy Chief of Staff Todd Weaver as the members of his war cabinet.
In other news, the legislature has begun debating on a new constitution that will take effect after the next elections, coming up in a year and a half.
