ICBM & IRBM warships on sale "to the highest bidder" sparks extensive controversy; Egelion caught in the cross-fire
October 5637
Himmelshtern, Narikaton and Darnussia - Several officials, scholars and prominent figures from all walks of private life made claims against Himmelshtern's decision to sell multiple ICBM / IRBM capable warships as "playing with fire" and "dangerously irresponsible", with Altea caught in the cross-fire as one of the "highest bidders" who have already assigned multiple defence contracts to Equifund companies like Sato, Biraero and Kadenite - notorious makers of ballistic missiles and related weapons systems - echoing the not-so-distant incident in Metz-Leonid rather sharply.
"How can this world continue to invest in such tech", an anti-war rights activist commented from Sholemberg; "tech that has proved devastating again and again and again - yet governments continue to play with fire".
Himmelshtern's decision to let go of several warships in active duty comes as a result of both the ongoing domestic situation in Amudim, as well as Tel Bira's slashing of all defence related spending. With fears of the Medebir (Desert) Nisrad following suit along similar lines, the Kohav decided to move forward with the sale proactively, especially as the Neset 314 continues to tank for multiple weeks in a row.
By the looks of it, both remaining formations of the Shahar Fleets will be disbanded (the 3rd one had been destroyed by the Xsampan Navy and is lying at the bottom of the Vascanian Sea) and the Yishelhafen Fleet will be slashed extensively.
The latter's scale down may in fact signal a further weakening of the 3rd Point Federation, raising a question of Amudim's participation in it.
