Premier Jalar's Socialist People's Party secures yet another term in office

In a result that was a suprise to no one, incumbent ruling Socialist People's Party of Premier Sain Jalar has won yet another term in office. After a months of campaigning, and tense voting day with some polling stations reporting clashes between voters, mostly verbal, State Electoral Administration has released full results of the election, confirming thus the SPP victory last Saturday. 

While SPP victory was not in doubt, the question this election was regarding other parties, and whether SPP allies would get enough seats to form a stable majority coalition government. And the answer was: yes. SPP's "natural coalition partner", Progressive Communist Party reportedly has gained up to 5 seats, which would put at a total of 10 seats, and a 4th place overall. With socialists also gaining up to 6 seats from Gurun, independents and others, an incumbent coalition would still sit at 114 seats, which is just one short of the majority. Which brings to the new political party, a split of the Gurun, youth-oriented left-wing progressive New Dawn, which will win 6 seats, enough to put SPP-PCP well over the 115 threshold for a majority government. With ND party leader, Xiang Logiya reaffirming that his party "is open for cooperation" with SPP-led coalition.

For the other side of the isle it was quite a disappointing night. While PFP remained somewhat stable and even managed to gain back the Gemun 8th district of the party's former leader, Tayiji Itumo, other opposition parties were not that happy. BDA akin to the PFP remained stable in their result, though lost two seats, bringing them to a total of 63. But then was Gurun. Formerly a major and powerful ruling party, will win 16 seats, down 8 compared to the 5633 result, making it the new worst election result ever for the third time in a row. Party leader, Babutai Dartao, in an upset result has lost his Niyalma 5th seat to the independent Mei Chang. Dartao in his concession speech announced that he will step down, but promised to continue to fight for Gurun. "My story as a leader is over, but my story as a Gurun member did not. I understand the disappointment, and that is why I am stepping down", Dartao said.

Other surprising development of the electoral night became the total wipeout of the Innovation Party, with the party failing to win either single-member district or any seats in the proportional blocks. INP leader Yelu Nahata conceeded, but also accused SPP government of fraud: "Our numbers do not match those from the SEA, so I am gonna ask a simple question: what happened? I am not denying these results, I am simply asking questions".

With 114 seats total of the two parties currently forming the government, and the possible entrance of New Dawn into the coalition, next cabinet will surely be a majority one, for the first time since 5633, when Gurun opted to not repeat the coalition with SPP following disatreous election results. Premier Salar has thanked her voters, and promised the nation that "more is yet to come".
