Yet again, it is another Valruzian neighbor undergoing a revolution against its oppresive regime. This time, it is Baltusia, and before, it was Tukarali. In the same way as Valruzia started and Tukarali followed, student protests have been the main heartbeat that has propelled angry citizens to reclaim the streets and demand their leadership to either change or go away. And this time, the blood of another martyr student has been spilled. The three nations, which make up most of the Northern Seleyan subcontinent, had been controlled by non-democratic governments since decades ago. Valruzia put an end to that in 5624, with Tukarali following a few years after and now Baltusia seeming to be going down the same path.
Quote:"It looks like a contagious disease, this democracy-will"says professor Mathias Lewenski, from the Technical University of Nowogard.
Quote:"But dreams do not always last, we will have to see how this movement ends in Baltusia. It proved to be successful here in Valruzia and in our southern neighbor, but will it be the same for our eastern neighbor? Only time will tell"
The Nowik government, as it did previously, had issued a travel advisory for Valruzian citizens wanting to visit Baltusia, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Spokesperson of the Government, Robert Sobieraj - who was also in charge when the Tukarese revolution took place - has asked the Baltusian government for "restraint" and "to listen to protestors' demands". The Nowik government has also decided to increase the military presence in the land border with Baltusia, although it has stated that refugees wishing to leave Baltusia are free to do so and go into Valruzian territory "in a temporary status". This has prompted protests from the Valruzian Alliance and Agrarian Voice, who claim to fear an increase in crminial activity and a perturbation in the "Valruzian way of life". Nonetheless, Chancellor Nowik has remarked the "temporary" label, and has announced a visit to the border to check how it is currently working.
Quote:"The worst thing a government can do is lose its touch with its citizens, whether they sympathize with them or not"has said Szymon Nowik.
Quote:"As we previous did with the Tukarese government, we now ask the Baltusian government to listen to whatever its angry citizens are asking for. We offered our help to the Tukarese government, taking into account our own experience with the Valruzian revolution, and now we do the same with our eastern neighbor. We are here to help, but we will not support a government that crushes and murders its own citizens".
As a former revolutionary himself, it is not known whether the Baltusian government will accept Nowik's offer for help, but for the time being, the Valruzian government has also decided to stop any trade in and out of Baltusia through Valruzian territory.
