Udongdo Dispute Formally Ends as Egelion calls for Rapprochement
Last Territorial Dispute Comes to a Close, Clearing Way for Closer Baeguk-Egelion Ties

Royal Councilor of the Kingdom of Egelion, Mondragon, was received warmly by the Teal House during her visit to the KGB this week. Greeted by her counterpart KGB PM Heukchi Geurinnarae, Councilor Mondragon declared publicly that Egelion was "not looking to engage in furthering imperialism or being proud of past grievances". PM Heukchi gave cordial remarks in response, an exceprt from which is reproduced below:

The KGB looks forward to establishing a strong partnership with the Kingdom of Egelion in the fields of culture, economic activity, and security. The KGB humbly appreciates the generous 5 million Egelian Crown grant for seeking education and truth the dynamic history between Egelion and Baeguk. Our nations have lived side by side for millennia, and it is only natural that we should both desire an end to bitter feuds so that we can continue to live together for many years more. An open, fair, and free Yadraz Sea (洋亶海) is a shared commitment. The historic and noble process of reconciliation started today will surely bloom into a cordial and beneficial symbiosis that can ensure the strength and prosperity of both realms.

Councilor Mondragon was later received at Jesu Palace with a banquet, wherein she presented His Imperial Majesty the Emperor with a declaration signed by His Majesty King Romulo of Egelion formally relinquishing all Egelian territorial claims to Udongdo Island and recognizing it as sovereign Baegukese territory. This discrepancy was the only serious issue in the otherwise positive strategic and economic relationship that has existed between the two neighbors since the 5300s. 

Both the KGB and Egelion jointly announced their mutual intentions to build a prosperous, egalitarian, and friendly partnership with each other in the coming decades.
