The motion proposed by the Nowik government to remove President Szymona Razem from her post following the scandal surrounding her secret negotations with the Amudim government over the forcibly displacement of Valruzian Yeudi citizens back to the Majatran nation seems to move forward. The Sejm - where Sovereign Valruzia and its current ally the Communist Party of Valruzia hold a majority of the seats - has decided to accept the government proposal on invoking Article 59 § 2 of the Valruzian Constitution, which establishes that "the president may be declared incapacitated by the Sejm if the president becomes unfit for the exercise of authority, in which case the Sejm shall elect the Marshall of the Sejm to serve for the remainder of the former President's term"

"This is not a matter of ideologies but a matter of dignity" has said Chancellor Nowik in parliament after the motion was accepted for its voting. "President Szymona Razem has overstepped her role, has entered into negotiations with foreign nations without the head of the Valruzian government - me - knowing or being informed about it and has used members of my cabinet for her own interests. This is a serious violation of her Constitutional role, and all of us who really value the democracy we have given to ourselves should be ashamed not to support this".

Perhaps the most notable absence from the Valruzian government during the debate was that of the Minister of Territorial Administration, Bonifacy Janiga, who according to internal sources, has been sacked too by Chancellor Nowik after his involvement in the secret negotiations was also unveiled. 

Now, Marshall of the Sejm Tatjana Borkowska - expected to take over as interim President if the motion prospers - has to decided on a date for the voting to take place, but experts say it is expected to be soon as not to delay it too much. 

However, it is unclear whether the motion will actually succeed. According to the Valruzian Constitution, for the President to be incapacitated it is needed the favorable vote of 2/3 of the Sejm, which means 401 deputies out of its 601 members. Sovereign Valruzia and the Communist Party of Valruzia hold 349, a comfortable majority but still far from the necessary votes. Including the votes of Dignity and Progress the majority goes up to 385, leaving only 16 votes left for it to be approved. However, the far-right of Valruzian Alliance has already announced their opposition to the removal, which takes 59 votes out of the equation. Therefore, those 16 votes have to come from either National Renewal, National Salvation or Agrarian Alliance, which together hold 157 seats. The problem? President Szymona Razem was their own presidential candidate. Right after the voting, the three parties have convened in an adjacent room and have formally ratified their coalition agreement for the remainder of this term and into the next elections, set to be in 5645, three years from now. But most importantly, they have agreed on granting free vote to their deputies.

"We will not take any lessons from communists or those who would sell their mother to stay in power"

has said Ksenia Brosz, leader of National Renewal and former Deputy Chancellor of Valruzia during the second Nowik government.

"However, we are democrats and as such, we believe this issue is important enough to let each single deputy from us to think about it, rethink about it, and then come with their choice"

. 

What are the most probable outcomes out of this? According to political experts, Agrarian Voice is the party the government is more focused in.

"They were born more as a single-issue party, and we don't believe it is in their interest to get tangled with this scandal, especially when many Yeudis live in more rural areas of Chynberg and Gryfit"

has said an official source close to the government. 

One further issue is the candidate to replace the current President: Tatjana Borkowska, belongs to the KPW, and was considered a close contender for the Presidential race before her own party pulled her out and chose another candidate instead.

"Voting to remove a conservative candidate to replace it with a communist candidate might be a pretty risky choice for any conservative deputy"

says political analyst Marzel Projsk.

"For the government to succeed in this, perhaps they have to sacrifice its own candidate and first choose a more moderate Marshall of the Sejm".

The game is now on, and time is running out.
