Breaking news from Altea this evening, The Royalist Party has claimed victory in national elections after King Romulo dissolved the Royal Court, following a controversial power-stripping law. Results, while very much unknown just two months ago, were very clear this evening. Polls closed at 8pm and results were immediately released at 8:30. Several news outlets called the election for the Royalist Party, gaining over 30 seats in the Royal Court. The Ghadrashi's People Party came into second place with 46 seats, the most in their existance. Together the Royalists and Ghadrashis are creating a coalition called "Absolutists". The Conservatives lost about 70 seats while the Cailleans gained few.
The Speaker of the Court will now be Julieta Alvarado from the city of Egelburgo, replacing the current Conservative speaker. These election results show one thing: the public of Egelion disapproved of constitutional monarchy in the nation. The nation's current ideology of liberal "Enlightened Absolutism" is popular among the Egelian people as it still respects the will of the people, but power rests fully within the Monarch. Many political analysts believe this to be a turning point in Egelian politics. The system and its institutions were tested by several power-seeking individuals. It is clear this effort was not supported by the people, who have lived comfortably under absolutism. The Royal Court will convene next week to be sworn in pick up work left off for two months.
