Moretti Government installed: priority to foreign policy

The executive is preparing to organize the long-awaited state visit to Mordusia and a historic meeting with the Government of Solentia

ROMULA - The Moretti Government, installed just two months ago, has decided to focus the first efforts of the government on Istalian foreign policy, opening two important diplomatic fronts: the official visit to Mordusia and a historic meeting with the Government of the newly formed Ahmadi Republic of Solentia.

Emperor Alessandro V himself, accompanied by the Minister of Defense Admiral Clelia Minucci and the Minister of Economy, National Industry and Trade Agostino Minghetti, will lead the Istalian delegation to the Mordusian capital of Rechtenburg. A long-awaited visit, postponed for months due to the elections and their uncertain results, but which today is finally formalized, also at the strong insistence of the Crown itself and the Defense leaders which sollicitated Moretti to focus first of all on this topic.

For Istalia, the opening of a strategic dialogue with Mordusia is considered a fundamental step for stability and security in the region, as well as an opportunity to lay the foundations for a new economic and commercial partnership with one of the most dynamic Seleyan realities that, significantly, lies just across the Sea of Lost Souls.

The interest of the defense in the meeting arises from the fact that the recent positioning in Mordusia of a naval tactical group of Luthori has not gone unnoticed. While on the one hand Romula does not consider this move as a threat, also strong of cordial relations with Fort William, on the other hand the geopolitical developments in the north-western area of Majatra are not underestimated, where the activity of Luthori has seen a recent surge in Amudim. The meeting in Rechtenburg will therefore also be an opportunity to obtain direct reassurances on issues of maritime security and military projection in the southern area of the Southern Ocean.

In parallel, Romula is preparing to welcome a delegation from the Government of the Ahmadi Republic of Solentia. The meeting will be led by Minister Secretary of State Moretti, in what many have already defined as “a historic step”, while others, more cautious, are wary of the opening towards a regime still perceived as fragile and unstable, of a country with which relations have always been difficult and that have totally disintegrated in the second half of the last century.

At the heart of the discussions will be the process of normalization of bilateral relations, pending for too long and there are many dossiers on the table: cooperation in border control and in the prevention of illegal immigration, reassurances and facilitations for the transit and trade of Istalian goods, collaboration in the fight against extremist groups and religious radicalism, and finally, protection measures for the large Istalian community present in Solentia.

On the front of the fight against radicalism, the Istalian government didn't forget that in Solentia, for many years, numerous Ahmadi extremist groups have found refuge, taking advantage of the chronic instability that has hit the country. From these bases, often located in areas that have escaped state control, attacks on Istalian territory were planned and launched during the Peninsula War, and it is well documented that many of the militiamen who fought in defense of the Grand Emirate of Quanzar came from these environments and maintained direct ties with the same fundamentalist networks. For this reason, Istalia intends to obtain clear guarantees from the new government of the Ahmadi Republic regarding the commitment to fight these groups, and says it is ready to offer substantial cooperation, including by sending experts in the social and educational fields to support Solentia in adopting policies aimed at preventing radicalization. Direct Financial and investment support is not excluded, in the knowledge that fanaticism takes root where there is poverty, insecurity, social isolation and distance from institutions. Initiatives are also being studied to send jurists and imams from Istalian Ahmadi communities and schools to Solentia, so that they can support their local colleagues in a joint action of pacification and normalization also on a religious level.

About the Istalian community, today there are approximately 3 million Istalians resident in the country, concentrated mainly in the south-east and along the eastern coasts. A historical and deep-rooted presence, which grew in particular under the Third Empire, and which over time has contributed significantly to the economic and social life of entire regions. In some areas, the Istalians now represent the majority compared to the population of Artanian descent, the so-called "Kansari", whose number has been constantly decreasing since, during the 47th century, the country firmly rediscovered its Majatran roots.

The Istalian community in Solentia has resisted even the darkest periods, such as during the last civil war, when it also became the target of fundamentalist groups. In many cases, as happened in similar contexts in the past, Istalian families and businesses have organized themselves autonomously for their own defense, forming local militias or hiring private military contractors, often Istalian, who have become over time a stable element of the social fabric and a valid alternative to the lack of state protection forces, and who have long found just beyond national borders a way to circumvent Istalian legislation that, virtually since always, has been against the activity within national borders of paramilitary groups and private contractors.

With these two appointments, the Moretti Government continues firmly on the path left by Saragat and before her by Monaldi in placing Istalia at the center of regional dynamics and in reaffirming its role as a responsible and proactive actor in the Majatra quadrant and in the international context.
