Kalistan Looks to Procure to deter "juvenile behavior" by Imperialist Nations

Kaliburg National Shipyards finally clears of last Hutori Cruiser, prepares to start on Kalistani Naval Orders

The Defense Minister, Jeff Broward, spoke at the Kaliburg National Shipyard yesterday praising the workers for their work in fulfilling the Hutori Luxon II Cruiser deal ahead of schedule and under budget.

"Due to the hard work of our shipbuilders, and careful management and offsetting of overages by crew directors, The Republic has fulfilled the order of 16 Luxon II Cruisers for the Kingdom of Hutori, and the final ship has arrived safely in port in Hutori. All workers here are to be commended for their diligence and dedication to their profession. We have saved more than 52 million Rubles due to raw materials cost reductions, as well as adoption of the more efficient just in time supply and statistical analysis best practices of our aircraft industry. Half of that money will be returned to Hutori, while ten million Rubles will go to bonuses for all workers who actually performed work on the Hutori Order and the remaining 16 million will go to upgrades for the facility."

The Defense Minister then shifted focus to the future. "We will now ramp up to building replacements for our aging navy. We are still looking for other nations willing to work with us as we attempt to develop new, more modern designs and weapon systems for our fleet, primarily our capital ships. With the failure of our effort to acquire destroyers to help defend our National territory from foreign incursion from Deltaria, our air defense at sea remains woefully inadequate. There are times when it would never have been a challenge to shoot down planes who somehow found themselves more than a thousand nautical miles away from their fleet and trespassing in places where they are not welcome, but as it is now adays, single engine prop planes could probably pose a serious challenge for our armaments. It really is no challenge for any nation that so wishes to, to irritate the Republic for no other reason than just for spite."

The Defense Minister noted that priorities are securing blueprints or joint development deals rather than outright purchases. "It is our desire to be able to build ships and aircraft for ourselves. We have facilities, we have knowhow, we have nationalized strategic materials, we have everything but the technical specs to create weaponry that can match our enemies at sea and in the air, and it would be incredibly costly and time consuming for us to research these things for ourselves."

The Minister noted that Kalistani Armaments currently utilize centuries old technologies, though the Republic's construction methods and materials is still seen as top of the line. "We are, to my knowledge the only ship makers who use carbon fiber reinforced hulls, and aluminum allow superstructures, in addition to hydrogen fuelcell powerplants. Our ships are still more maneuverable, using lighter materials, and providing more protection at sea. But our designs and weapon systems need updates. We hope that nations friendly to Kalistan will agree to work with The Republic to remedy this to increase security in the Northern Anantonese Ocean."

Broward noted that Kalistan is looking for new Destroyer designs, as well as updated anti-aircraft Surface to Air artillery and missile batteries. "We look forward to the next carrier who decides to provoke the Republic 'accidentally,' just to prove a point. With the proper weaponry on the Limits, these 'accidents' won't happen with impunity anymore." The Minister also noted that Kalistan is looking for new aircraft designs which will allow for increased patrol ranges and interception capabilities.

"The unnecessary and deliberate provocation by the empires of Deltaria and Yingdala has shown Kalistan that international bad actors still seek to test the Republic's resolve to defend its national territory. Imperialist powers making a statement at the expense of Kalistani National sovereignty should not be permitted to operate with impunity anywhere they wish, and it is our hope that the next time they decide to test us, we will be ready to respond to their slap in the face with a few bullet holes in their airfoils. We are disappointed with the juvenile behavior of these two imperialist states, but it is to be expected, and encourages us to prepare for the next time they want to act like children in and around the Republic again."
