Gnarly Fam, the forerunners of "Southern Hip Hop" in Kalistan to play Reconciliation Concert in Kundrati
Kalistan has been asked to send Kalistani Musicians to play the Kundrati Reconciliation concert, to celebrate the end of the civil strife in Kundrati next year. Ever the supporters of both international peace and music festivals, ARC records volunteered two of its acts for the Festival. The Kalistani set will be headlined by Suldanor Hip Hop veterans and pioneers of the "Southern Hip Hop" sound, The Gnarly Fam, to represent The Empire at the Music fest. Gnarly Fam plans to play their recent hit song "(Gonna Have a) Good Day" as well as a complete set including fan favorite "Up and Done It" from their first record.
Group leader and primary lyricist A Dawg said the band was very excited to play overseas. "We never been out the country, you know? It's finna be dope!" Asked if he knew much about the Kundrati Situation, A Dawg admitted he was not as up on the events of the war as he would like to be, but looked forward to celebrating the peace with the people of Kundrati. "I mean, that Junta, or whatchu might call them, the one thats causin all that sh-- for those people, they seemed like some bad dudes. I was pretty happy when the killing ended in Keita, and I was like 'Damn!' when those guys was spraying the people with those helicopters. We ain't got sh-- like that here in Yoshimi' and when I saw those people getting killed by the drones, I was like 'Pray for them people...' But the war's over. Maybe we'll get to talk to some people there and see how their war experience was." He hoped his band's music would help heal the war torn nation.
Gnarly Fam will be supported by Dana Ska group The Rivers, who scored a Top 20 hit last year with their song "You never Loved Me." Both Gnarly Fam and The Rivers record on ARC, and have toured Suldanor together within the last year. "It'll be nice to hang out with Gnarly again," said Rivers' lead singer Helen Thomas. "They're down home dudes. Good guys to just hang out with, and they also know how to find all the Parties!"
The Concert will happen early next year in the Kundrati capitol, if the security situation permits.
