Fidelia changes its name: the Region will be called "Appiana", a tribute to the Imperial House

The renaming act was approved by a large majority while Cisavugli is also preparing to become Silicia and launch the first regional statute of the country

ROMULA – The Regional Council of Fidelia voted in favor of the proposal to officially rename the Region to Appiana, in homage to the Imperial House of Istalia, the Appiano De Borromei, and to its current reigning cadet line, the Appiano-Solari. With this decision, the Region chooses to permanently link its identity to the centuries-old family from which Emperor Alessandro V descends and which has deep roots in the Fidelian territory.

The initiative has its origins in the past: the proposal, in fact, was presented for the first time 32 years ago by Carlo Ricciardi, regional councilor at the time, member of the first legislature of the National Congress and veteran of the Great Patriotic War of Liberation, during which he fought in the Resistance under the command of the then young Alessandro, not yet crown prince, now Emperor, before serving in the reconstituted Imperial Army. Ricciardi intended, even then, to pay homage to the restored dynasty, which had led the country to liberation and national reconstruction, intrinsically intertwining once again the destinies of the family and the country.

That proposal, which remained in the archives for years, was exhumed and relaunched in a profoundly changed political climate, while the debate on regional statutes intensified throughout the country, also fueling reflections on identity and culture. The choice to rename the region to Appiana was presented as an act of historical and cultural recognition, but also as an affirmed declaration of identity.

For centuries, the Imperial House maintained the center of its extra-institutional activities in Fidelia, now Appiana, administering lands, assets and economic interests that have resisted centuries of political turbulence. With the Third Restoration, this bond was strengthened: the region returned to being a true symbolic and strategic bulwark for the Monarchy and its institutions.

The political context made the parliamentary transition rather straightforward. After the regional elections, held concurrently with the national elections as required by current law, the National Liberal Party obtained over 40% of the seats, thus managing to push the initiative into its program and obtain the approval of the Council with a large majority.

The opponents came from the New Communists, the only Liberal Republican and the Greens: the first two for their ideological opposition to the Monarchy, while the Greens motivated their vote against with the criticisms, expressed several times in the past, towards the expansion of the large lithium mining industry in the heart of the region, a sector in which the Imperial House itself holds significant investments.

The new name of the region will officially come into force at the end of the ratification process with the state authorities. The regional institutions will be called "Appiana Regional Council" and "Appiana Regional Government", while an official ceremony in the presence of the Emperor and the Imperial Family is expected by the end of the year.

Meanwhile, also in the Cisavugli Region the restoration of the historical name of Silicia is approaching, now considered imminent, as well as the presentation of its regional statute, which according to forecasts will be approved without obstacles. Determined to be the first Region of Istalia to equip itself with a new autonomous statute, Cisavugli aims to take this step under the name of Silicia, thus marking a double turning point on the institutional and identity level there too.
