Is there a chance for the right-wing government any time soon?
Opinion polling shows that the right is declining fast, with two major parties, Reform and Radicals, nearing their worst results ever, but there is a discussion about a united front, leading up to the question of whether it can help

With half a year left before the next general election, many analysts, especially on the right, raise a very interesting question: is there a chance for the current right-wing forces to reclaim power, after a landslide victory of social democrats 4 years ago? And the short answer would be no, if one were to look at current opinion polls by various pollsters, which all show a clear image: PSSG machina is strong and stable, with nothing posing a threat to its re-election in December next year.

Now, the most recent Mente Colmena numbers demonstrate just that, with PSSG reaching a record 140 years, more than enough to govern on their own, without being afraid of some coalition infighting or inability to pass legislation promised to the voters. At the same time, Radicals and Reform fall below 40 and 30, respectively. When looking at individual results seat-by-seat, it shows an even more grim picture for the right. If these numbers were the result today, PRG could be on the verge of losing crucial seats, like the rural Iravaca seat in western Manzamal, which it held for decades, with the poll showing a three-way race between PRG, PDH and PSSG. And this is the story of the current political system: PSSG stands strong, eyeing the ability to win over some generations-held constituencies of the right; the very same decaying traditional right-wing; and PDH, which positioned itself as a third-way force before, and has only reaffirmed its title following its "breakup" with the PRADG government.

And yet, in light of this decay, strategists and party members have begun to float an idea of the joint electoral coalition on the right, with Radicals and Reform, obviously, making up the foundation of the coalition, with some members even as far as proposing a complete merger of RAD and PRG into a single stronge right-of-centre force, able to counter PSSG. The logic is simple: with the social democrats able to win some seats with no competition on the left, and a divided right, the only way out is a united front. Supporters say the two parties share a common platform, with the only difference being that the Radicals and Reform parties' electoral bases are either urban or rural voters, respectively. And the joint list could very well reassert the rightist presence as a serious contender against the PSSG machina, say the proposal supporters.

Opponents are questioning whether rebranding will be effective compared to reevaluating values, policies, and leadership. They are concerned that the joint list might discourage some voters from participating, leading them to either abstain or vote for more conservative or liberal parties, such as PNG/PSL or PDH. While left-leaning and emerging centrist forces have embraced narratives around climate policy, digital governance, and economic justice, the right has mainly remained reactive. Voters are not just abandoning parties; they are also rejecting what they see as outdated visions of society. But, that's for right to solve in the upcoming months, which will be crucial for its present and future place in the modern Gaduri political system. If there is a united and serious intent to reform the nation, with a proper policy plan to do just that, there might be a small chance for the right to survive and possibly push PSSG into a minority government zone, laying ground for a tough 5671 election.
