Enacting Laws of the Empire of Ananto and Kalistan

KRTVN Charter

Pursuant to Kalistani Statutory Law Title X Technology and Media Regulations Section 1 This bill aims to reorganize the Kalistani Radio-Television Network as Non-profit Cooperative encompassing all broadcast media except internet, but including satellite broadcasts of KRTVN programming, within a single media company. All broadcast media operated by political Parties with the express purpose of serving partisan agendas will be exempt from this law.

KRTVN is to be not for profit, and will be subscription based, combined with generous subsidies from the Republican Government. Underwriting which does not include calls to action may be solicited by the KRTVN. All advertising must conform to Republican Laws.

All KRTVN broadcasts will be provided free to the public, though KRTVN will be permitted throughout the year to solicit memberships from people, who will be free to choose to subscribe or not. Only paying subscribers will participate in any voting within the system. Any budget shortfalls will be covered by the Ministry of Culture.

The Republican Government is hereby expressly forbidden from influencing the content of any station under KRTVN. This includes the airing of Political Propaganda, as well as influencing news broadcast content, or cultural and entertainment media.

An Ombudsman will be elected from among subscribers to the KRTVN. The Ombudsman is responsible to ensure quality of content, as well as ensuring that the Station is operating within the laws of the Republic. The Ombudsman will be held responsible for all editorial and content decisions of the station. A simple majority of subscribers may remove an Ombusdman at any time, for any or no reason, and replace him or her with a new Ombudsman. The Ombudsman may set up an office and solicit assistance as he or she deems necessary.

The KRTVN television channel lineup will include, but is not limited to

Channel 1: News and Weather
Channel 2: Sports (including both live and pre-recorded sports)
Channel 3: Entertainment/Comedy
Channel 4: Entertainment/Drama
Channel 5: Entertainment/Arts
Channel 6: Entertainment/Action, Adventure
Channel 7: Entertainment/Music
Channel 8: Entertainment/Movies
Channel 9: Educational/Small Children
Channel 10: Education/ Older Children
Channel 11: Education/Adult
Channel 12: International

The KRTVN Radio Lineup will include, but will not be limited to:

Channel 1: Alternative
Channel 2: Hip Hop
Channel 3: Electronica/RF
Channel 4: Reggae
Channel 5: Funk/Dance
Channel 6: Other Kalistani (rock, folk, country)
Channel 7: International Music
Channel 8: News/Weather
Channel 9: Sports
Channel 10: Education/General

This act will go into effect immediately upon acquiring enough votes to pass into law.
