Oil exploration in Monte Agudo divides the country

The reaction was immediate. the Liberals (LDP) and the Social Democrats (SDP) accused the government of selling out national sovereignty and putting the environment at risk.
SDP deputies even raised placards in the plenary session with the slogan:
The government has the support of the Workers' Union Party (WUP) and the Conservative Alliance (CA) and, in theory, will have enough votes for the bill to pass in parliament.
