Dignity and Progress and Agrarian Voice announce coalition agreement

The agrarian party leaves the conservative Forward Valruzia coalition and triggers doubts about the continuity of the national government

In a joint press conference today held in Nowogard, the spokespeople of the socialdemocratic Dignity and Progress and the agrarianist Agrarian Voice have announced the decision of both parties to form a new coalition at national level, effectively putting an end to the 36 years that the agrarianist have been part of the conservative Forward Valruzia coalition.

The move, which, according to Forward Valruzia, "they found out about through the press", would currently place Faustyna Sabala's government in a delicate situation, given that the government has just enough votes to maintain its majority if no member of parliament rebels. For now, the conservative coalition has ruled out breaking up the central government of which it is a part, and in which Agrarian Voice holds the ministries of Agriculture and Environment, but sources close to the coalition say that the coalition led by Anastazja Nabozny is "deeply disappointed" with Agrarian Voice's decision and also with the way it left the coalition, and they say that this will "take its toll" on them.

For her part, the spokesperson for Dignity and Progress has announced that the new coalition, unprecedented until now, will bear the name of both parties under the label "Dignity and Progress – Agrarian Voice", and under the agreement, the latter will lead the lists in the regions of Chynberg and Gryfit, and the former will do so in Kampania, Ruzia, and Valusia.

For now, it is unclear how this could affect the voting intentions of Valruzia's citizens, but the coalition has certainly taken many by surprise, especially since it involves a center-left party and another traditionally considered center-right, although Agrarian Voice has always rejected this label.

For some, this move signals nervousness within Chancellor Faustyna Sabala's party, which in the latest election polls barely reaches the 3% threshold.
